Republicans decry service as partisan [LOTT WALKED OUT!!]

Though it was billed as a memorial service, many irate viewers and Republican leaders said the gathering for U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone and five others degenerated at times into a blatant political rally.

"What a complete, total, absolute sham," said Vin Weber, a former U.S. representative from Minnesota. "The DFL clearly intends to exploit Wellstone's memory totally, completely and shamelessly for political gain. To them, Wellstone's death, apparently, was just another campaign event."

There is nothing the Clinton RAT party could do that would be surprising, because there is absolutely no level that they won't sink to in order to advantage themselves.

To them there is nothing in life other than politics and there is no outcome except winning that is acceptable.

They do no respect even the process of balloting or counting votes, preferring the methods of 3rd-World dictatorships in order to ensure continued power. Why do you think they'd respect one of their allies when he has died? To them, he's no more now than an old shoe that's fallen apart. The only meaning of his life is what he can do now in his grave to help them keep their own political power.

That's all he meant to them alive. He certainly doesn't mean anything more to them now that he's dead.

I lost my father a week and a half ago, and I cannot see how they can be so casual about it. My life has been very hard over the last two weeks.

My sympathies to you and your family. I lost my father over 30 years ago and still miss him. Now imagine you lost not only your father, but your mother and sister as well, all at the same time. Politics would be the furthermost thing from any normal mind at that point. Perhaps these political families have a different soul that the rest of us. Perhaps they have no soul at all.

"If Paul Wellstone's legacy comes to an end, then our spirits will be crushed and we will drown in a river of tears," a clearly emotional Kahn said.

This is so sad. Some relatives at my mother's funeral decided to make a joke of it, assuming their way of "honoring her" was accepted by all. I felt so alone. I loved her so much. I really feel for this kid.

Financial gifts are terrific, but what Norm really needs are volunteers for phone banks and people drumming up votes.

Many thanks. Norm is a wonderful man and will make a superb United States Senator.

I just though of this, could the reason the Wellstone family showed no real remorse and allowed his memorial to be used as a political rally be that he is still alive ? The Crash was real but Wellstone was not on the plane when it crashed ? The whole thing is fishy.

Wellstone's sons must have hated daddy...

I was wondering about exactly that. In the short portion I saw, the son looked excited and happy. I watched him for a little while to see if any natural emotion would show through, and it didn't.

For those of you who do not recognize the man on the right wearing the bow tie, it's Alan Page.

Let's put it this way -- almost the entire Senate attended Paul Coverdale's Service including DemocRATS. It was a dignified service BTW.

Registered, a request for a new thread:

"Democrats would slap a campaign sticker on a coffin. I watched the memorial/rally, and it was just plain ghoulish." What a great political cartoon showing their hypocracy that would make. Vision a picture of the Clintoons, and Kennedy et al, standing around the coffin as it's being lowered into the grave. Hitlary says: "I bet the slime ball Republicans can't wait to resume campaigning." On top of the coffin is a huge sticker that says, "Vote for Mondale!"

Is there any video of this on the Internet? I didn't see it last night and would like to get a feel for what it was like. Sounds absolutely replulsive, by the way. Maybe I'll be sorry I asked for video.

I don't think so. I think the sons are still in shock and the Democrats are taking huge advantage of it. The Sons probably aren't thinking clearly right now. They just lost their mother, father, and sister in a horrable accident.

Saluting is not appropriate unless in uniform. The proper respect is given by covering the heart with the right palm resting the chest above the heart, fingers together and extended, as if in the salute position.

I didn't think very much of Wellstones politics, but I believed he was a good man. He didn't deserve this

He was a democrat, a liberal and a communist. He deserved much worse (and is probably getting it). His wife, daughter and the pilots/crew however are a different story.

Don't rule out my thought. Would you allow your familys death to used as a poltitical rally and be there slapping backs and grinning ? The Whole thing is strange.
