SARAH BRADY BEGGING FOR MONEY ON THE BACKS OF SNIPER VICTIMS

BRADY UNEDUCATED ABOUT "BALLISTICS FINGERPRINTING"

In a press release dated today, October 24, 2002, Sarah Brady, erroneously states, "If one existed (a national ballistics database), the police hunting for the sniper would have been able to trace the murder weapon days ago.and at least nine live might have been saved."

Brady, the head of the group formerly know as Handgun Control, Inc, is either ignorant of the facts, or is just flat out ignoring the facts. Brady is asking for backdoor gun registration. This becomes very apparent when she calls for the creation of a national ballistics database to keep a record of the "fingerprint" of every gun manufactured. She then states that, "Police would be able to match the ballistics evidence recovered from a crime scene to an individual gun-AND ITS PURCHASER." Sounds like a registration scheme to me!

Brady then uses the worn out, lame excuse that the NRA is controlling Congress and the Bush Administration, and blatantly asks for "an emergency contribution" because they want to force Congress into action. What Brady fails to mention is that Congress will be recessing tomorrow and will not be returning until after the November elections!

Here are the facts, according to the National Sport Shooting Foundation-

FACT- Maryland introduced its own ballistic imaging system in 2000. Every new handgun that is sold in the state must be accompanied by spent shell casings for input into the imaging network. According to Maryland budget figures, approximately $5 million has been spent on the system. According to Maryland law enforcement officials, it contains over 11,000 imaged cartridges, has been queried a total of 155 times and has not been responsible for solving any crimes. In New York, there have been thousands of cartridges entered into their database and, according to reports, no traces have resulted in criminal prosecutions.

FACT-There are an estimated 260 million firearms in private hands. It would be virtually impossible to retrieve these firearms for ballistics documentation without violating the constitutional rights of millions of law abiding firearms owners.

FACT-The federal government has worked for nearly 10 years on developing an imaging network. The National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF), provides federal, state, and local law enforcement officials with critical ballistics information on crimes committed with a firearm.

FACT-The unique marks that can identify a particular bullet or shell casing change due to a number of environmental and use factors. Barrels and operating parts of firearms change with use, wear and tear over time. Moreover, a person can, within minutes, use a file to scratch marks in a barrel or breech face, or replace a firing pin, extractor, and barrel thereby giving a firearm a completely new ballistic identity.

FACT-A recent study completed by the California Department of Forensic Services on creating a statewide ballistic imaging network stated that: When applying this technology to the concept of mass sampling of manufactured firearms, a huge inventory of potential candidates will be generated for manual review. This study indicates that this number of candidate cases will be so large as to be impractical and will likely create logistic complications so great that they can not be effectively addressed. The study pointed out that when expanding the database of spent shell casings, the system will generate so many hits that could be potential matches, it would not be of any use to forensic examiners.

So, when you take into consideration the facts stated above, it seems blatantly obvious that Brady is using the deaths of innocent people merely to pimp for more money for her organization. Misleading people on the entire ballistics issue is not only irresponsible, but immoral.

I think what really bothers me here, is the fact that ballistics fingerprinting WONT work. It's to simple to defeat it, rendering the whole concept useless. But thats not really what Sarah is after it for, I know. ;-)

Ok, so maybe thats not the only thing that bothers me, Ms. Brady herself pretty much sets me off without even saying anything! *shudder*

Gun-grabbing, like abortion, has become wholly irrational and impervious to facts.

I'm a little confused. Can someone help me? They want a spent "cartridge" from each gun or a spent "bullet"?

If the police had released the license number of the perps' car when they got it, at least one life might have been saved.
As it is, folks in Maryland have an inquisitive radio station to thank for the capture of those Islamist thugs.
Without the radio station monitoring the police radio, those two would probably still be roaming and shooting and Barney Moose would still be holding his hourly "press conferences."

Even if they had the information, they probably couldn't use it to any reasonable purpose (disregarding the obviously evil, unconstitutional, confiscatory subtext of the proposal).

This is the same US Government that's loused up the Social Security cards on 3 out of 6 of our children, when we gave them the applications and birth certificates (simple names, spelled correctly ...) at their office and everything.

Here's a proposal: people who don't own guns shouldn't be allowed to vote! Whoops, that would be me, unless you count the boys' bb-guns. I always borrow a gun from Dad. Note about Christmas present ...

I sent it to Michael Betsch at CNSNews. He is the reporter who did the initial story on our College Chapter at Mt. Holyoke. He interviewed me for that story as well. His story really stirred things up for SAS, in a positive way!

These people use any excuse to attempt to take away our right to bear arms.
All of these incidents and they still do not realize that the criminals will still own guns and they will not register them nor will the ballistic fingerprint be on file.

"Everyone should send the dumb bit*h some Monopoly money!"

GREAT idea!!

In theory, she should be as able to successfully spend Monopoly money as "ballistic fingerprinting" would be likely to work!

"spent shell casings"? Has Ms. Brady and the left ever heard of revolvers, bolt actions, single shots?

Evil vindictive bitch, she is. She's bitter because instead of her husband catering to her, she's stuck caring for him because of some kook. If he were hit with a rock instead, she'd be asking for evey rock to be removed from the planet.
It's not guns that take innocent lives from people, it's Sara Brady that takes lives from innocent people.
