[history]
The last cryptic message from Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose to the Washington-area sniper referred to a Cherokee Indian story about an arrogant rabbit that was duped by the duck he tried to catch.
"You have indicated that you want us to do and say certain things. You've asked us to say, 'We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose.' We understand that hearing us say this is important to you," Moose said late Wednesday at a televised news briefing, called so authorities could release information on two people sought for questioning in the 13 sniper shootings.

Best explanation I have seen.
Was it a "message" to others? I hope and pray not ... only time will tell.

Lots of FReepers emailed FOX last night about this reference, that is how they figured it out. Saw it happening real time.

A rabbit? Rabbits don't eat ducks, do they? I thought they were herbivores. Maybe a fox...
To: Jeff Head
Freepers had this figured out about 10 minutes after Chief Moose said it.

Actually the first person to explain this was Ron Kuby on WABC this morning with Curtis Sliwa. He was WAY ahead of the TV stations, cable outlets and print media.

It's the sniper that hoped to play the role of the duck. He has learned that this trick doesn't work very well with 10-ton rabbits.

I was just about to post this. You beat me to it. I still don't get. Then again, I haven't had enough coffee! Maybe I'll read it again later.

If that's the explanation, what a lame message to give out through the press. As if the killings aren't dramatic enough?
Sheesh.

Freepers had posted links to this story last night, within 15-30 minutes after the news conference. Freepers are ahead of the pack...for sure ahead of Kuby!!
