"Isn't it also a federal crime when the same person murders people in different states?"
I looked this up and could not find that 'simple' murder would become a federal crime. Maybe someone else knows for sure. I think that's also why the FBI could not completely take over the investigation, but only give support. If it had been kidnapping or another specified federal crime, I think they could.

Southack, I like your optimism; unfortunately, the truth is a little different. Here's the headline summary for the Yahoo discussion group regarding the shootings:
One of America's most extraordinary manhunts culminated Thursday in the arrests of an Army veteran and a teenager, asleep at a roadside rest stop perpetrators, authorities believed, of a bloody, three-week sniping spree that left 10 people dead and multitudes paralyzed by fear.
The nature of this debate reminds a little of the Pacific theater during WWII. To wit, whoever controlled Hawaii dictated whether the war would be fought in the west or eastern Pacific.
What we're seeing here is that whoever controls the media will establish the debate as ex-Military vs. Muslim. By Monday, every teacher in the US will be leading classroom discussions about the nature of why people have grievances against the US, and how military training and the acccess to weapons enables them to carry out their anti-community behavior.
Their proposed solution: limit access to dangerous tools and mind-altering (ie patriotic) conditioning so that we can all enjoy the benefits of a peaceful and loving community...

Haven't been able to read this entire thread.....has it been reported on FR that Muhammad had provided security for the Nation's Islam's Million Man March? FNC is reporting this now.
I also heard a friend report on DC radio station that Muhammad had attended the March and was a 'devout Moslem'. This friend was the one who had started a martial arts business with him. FNC also reporting that he was an expert marksman.....info from the Pentagon.

Okay, how could someone take aim with a scope on the rifle through a hole in the trunk? maybe somebody's got this already, but ...
where's the gas spout on that make of chevy ?
it'd be a pretty simple matter to cut an ample hole behind the license plate,
then mount the plate to spring-loaded bar, etc to get it out of the way.
similar thing could be done to one of the taillight assemblies ...
this was a coffee break post
nothing further - please move along ...

Well, they may not have been there themselves but that camp has been connected on more than one occasion with terrorist.
"An American Muslim held as a material witness to terrorism may be linked to a Web site whose operator used information from an Alabama firearms school to promote "jihad" training
The Seattle Times reported that James Ujaama, arrested this week in Denver, helped with a British Web site that advertised the "Ultimate Jihad Challenge," a paramilitary training course in the United States. The arrest came while the main operator of the Web site, Sulayman Balal Zain-ul-abidin, was on trial in London on charges of offering training in firearms and explosives last year.
Zain-ul-abidin's lawyer previously said her client used promotional materials from an Alabama weapons training camp, Ground Zero, in a bid to lure customers. She denied that he broke any laws.
The operator of the camp, Mark D. Yates, was in England on Friday. He said he had testified for antiterrorism prosecutors in the trial of Zain-ul-abidin, which could end next week.
State and federal officials in Alabama have said there was no evidence terrorists trained at Ground Zero, located near the west Alabama city of Marion.
The Ground Zero Web site featured a photo of the burning World Trade Center towers and promoted antiterrorist training after Sept. 11, but the name was used long before the terrorist attacks."
I just find it interesting that Mark Yates, the camp's owner and a British citizen, keeps denying the camp has ties to terrorism, clearly it does, albeit perhaps indirectly.

Unless there is a different person that is the sniper,I don't see him or them continuing to breath not too much longer after the trial. It should be just as fast as McVeigh.

Muhammand has ties to the Nation of Islam.....we must make sure this doesn't get ignored!

I agree that the game's not over yet. I also wonder about something: There was SOMETHING that led LEO's to believe the two illegal Mexicans were the perps.....There was SOMETHING that led authorities last night to leak that a hispanic was suspected, and it seems like I heard that it had to do with the accent, or the writing style, or the errors that experts said might be common to hispanics. Now, we have these two perps who instead are Jamaican and tied to Calypso Louie and the Nation of Islam, possibly Panthers. Here's a thought.....could there be a remaining accomplice or perp out there who is Dominican? Aren't Dominicans black AND hispanic?

I am very curious to see what more will become known of Mohammad, this camp Isn't there some info surfacing that the whole Camp GroundZero thing may have been a diversionary tactic by the police while they search other Muslim extremist areas around there? I swear I heard something about that...man, I go out to take out the trash, I miss 500 posts. :-)

I need a break. :) Friend of mine has been reporting gun shots in her neighborhood for several months now. Single gun shots, real loud, late at night. Seem random, always unexpected, very scary, but as it happens just once, she quiets down soon. Some of her neighbors, not coming from the direction of the gunshots, had a huge party the night of Sept.11th. Well, she really isn't a friend of mine, she is a relative, very level headed person. She said it was alot of males, very loud, very drunken, very festive. It has become a mixed neighborhood over the last year, especially. Anyway, she has watched that particular house since 9/11. Alot of comings and goings. Very few parties, just alot of people around, mostly males. Just thought I'd mention this. No particular reason.

What does a 6 hour delay in the press conference tell you? My guess is that other things are going down right now and the cops want to give the public more good news, but that's only my guess.
