Let's keep a live commentary thread going again today. The FBI Tip Line #1-888-324-9800.
All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Like I said before, with any luck, one of the sniper's "victims" will be the media.

Or FedEx driver.
Brown United Postal driver.
They know routes and roads.
In paper-pushing DC area, they are ubiquitous.

Bump.
The shooter might have enough of an ego to be found in the video taping of the crowd listening to one of the police/news conferences.

it's code. click 'view source' and scroll down to the line preceding this is a test and you see
BODY onLoad="shake();" bgcolor="#000000" text="#ffffff"
with <> around it. The BODY onLoad=shake(); is what causes the page to shake for a while. This seller has a sense of humour.

They all look very worried if you asked me.I'd be worried, too. The supposed 48 hours are almost up.

What if we smoke the sniper out into the open by really making him mad? My idea too. Humiliate him in public instead of making him seem so important. Who does he think he is, anyway?? (Oh yeah, G-d... Well, he ISN'T!)

don't forget newspaper carrier (You learn all the roads fast when your a newspaper carrier)
especially at night. He might have been a newspaper route manager and knows several of the areas due to covering different newspaper carrier routes when they do not show up for work.

I just read a washington post article that said that the sniper tried to call several times and was blown off. The article stated that FBI trainees were answering phones and that the trainee blew him off. My question is, What the hell is a trainee doing answering the phone? In reading that an allusion to the WTC and ignored tip-offs to the FBI sprung to what's left of my mind.
Hmmm....

do you think that the killer has been using the same vehicle for all shootings? I like your reasoning and I am trying to work this out in my head. Also, do you think that with so many different LEO's involved that maybe even an ex-cop might be able to blend? If I had to guess, I would guess that he uses the same vehicle, maybe 2, but no more. Two reasons for that is a person with more than 2 vehicles is going to stick out more. If this is a lone gunman operation, then from what I more or less profile him, he is not in a position to have more than a couple. Remember, if he is careful enough with his recon and choice of locations, it wouldn't matter if he were driving a yellow submarine. No one sees him leave. (most of those reports of the white van, cream van, ladder rack, no ladder rack, luggage rack, blah, blah, blah, etc) are just possible sightings. I personally don't subscribe to that. That would have to assume that he is right at the scene, and burns rubber when he leaves. As I said, I believe he chooses his locations based primarily on ease of ingress and egress. Those are essential for his successful completion of his ops. So really his car is to him irrelevant. He is gone before anyone notices him. And he goes the other way, away from the scene. He is far enough away when he shoots, he is enough of a distance away that he has a buffer zone.
As to this being a former cop, could be. It would help explain a few things. He is someone that has had some training in tactics, or is in someway schooled in them. And I believe he has had some firearms training. So that could be. And he would be familiar with police tactics, response times, initial scene preservation, etc. Could be.

It was a "tactical" statement.
As long as the immigrants remain in east and south county, Duncan wouldn't know...since they don't vote.

I think all of us would be happy to welcome this person to the ranks of American for turning in the perp.I should hope so. I know I would!
I heard that the note contained some broken english.
Now this direct plea (well, plea may be too strong a word) to the immigrant population. Hmmmm....

Was there any passengers on that bus yesterday? If so, probably illegals on their way to work.

I would not be surprised if they use this tactic on us in the near future, since this loony tested it out so successfully for them, it is as though he read their manuals. Maybe he did.
To: TexKat
In some early reports, I heard that there was one woman sitting on the bus at the time -- not sure if that's true or not at this point.
