For a refreshing source of optimism, we should all do some research and see what Admiral Yamamoto had to say about the United States when he and his superiors in the Japanese government were discussing the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Something about a hornet's nest?

So sorry, I didn't mean to make it more chilling... Hugs!

Your exactly right. Although, with our American system, most will not have to be assigned weapons, the people already have them. This is a prime function of the people being armed, all that needs to be done, is have the Sheriff of the various counties call out his citizens for duty. Probably, they could be deputized for this special operation.
Albert's child (#42) is exactly right, just as Japan feared the American people during WWII, because they had weapons for defense at the individual level, so will this terrorist, if the people are asked to help.
This is what the Second Amendment is all about!

What is the ownership of the van? - I would guess it is a company van owned (stickers and all) by their employer.
To: Freeper Lady
Funny. Rumsfield said they are going to release some of the prisoners soon. I wonder?
A good point....
To: TrappedInLiberalHell
Understood. I'm a speculator too. Wish they would release more info, like the entire note.
The FBI held the Unibomber note secret for a long time. Once they released it, his brother recognized him in it.
But cops, like all bureaucrats, protect their turf, so they'll not release the info until the press forces them into it, as here happened with the threat to our children.
To: Luis Gonzalez
I absolutely agree with you. Too many people, even in here make the knee jerk reactions before they think it through. When the shooter said "your children", it doesn't mean he's a foreigner, to me it could mean he's seperated himself from society. I'm no psychoanalyst, but it doesn't take one to use logic. The shooter is a monster. He's a psychopath with absolutely no concern for human life. NOT EVEN HIS OWN. Frankly, I think he probably doesn't expect to live much longer.

Good idea, but you don't set up "watch groups" like that. The only way to catch someone like this is by hiding in the plpaces where he would hide and wait for him to show up. Not practical, to be sure, but it would certainly work if you were only looking to protect a small piece of turf around your home or business.

5PM EST MSNBC JERRY NACHMAN States that according to his sources, the Task Force inner circle basically forced Moose to go back out and inform the public of the threat to the children.
To: lexlov
Great catch on the "your children" phrase - it shows cold blooded contempt for the American life. Thanks for your post!

Up in Portland Maine, they've got the original, they call Portlands police chief, "Media Mike" This guy must be the carbon copy, no racial pun intended.Funny...Moose is the former Chief in Portland Oregon.

We can't be afraid of this sniper. Life must go on as usual. Look what England did during Wold War II. People still went to work and School despite the bombing at the hands of the Nazis.O'Reilly could have used a more current example ... Israel. Suicide bombings take place two or three times a month ... hundreds of Israeli's have been killed or wounded ... and life goes on. The U.S. media has to stop this 24/7 coverage of the sniper attacks ... it's scaring the soccer mom gang witless.

There were other stickers on the van.
There was a POW/MIA sticker, a "Three Amigos Car Sales" from some place out west, and a Mexican flag.

Golly, I wonder what Michael Moore would do if he witnessed the sniper murdering another innocent*... |
P.S.: I apologize for the Politically Incorrect use of the word "murderer". I came to my senses and realized that whoever he (or she) is, he (or she) is troubled and probably is distraught about tax cuts, senior citizens being deprived of Medicare and free drugs, children having free lunches taken away from them, our imminent war with the benevolent and wonderful Saddam Hussein, and most of all, our First Black President is no longer in office.
*Personally, if I were to see this slime taking aim, I'd probably forget the Weaver stance and perforate his head with a 9mm. But that's me...

The largest manhunt in America since the search for John Wilkes Booth, has thus far turned up two mojados driving a white van with NRA, and Bush/Cheney stickers, on lunch break.
They're probably not allowed to investigate muslims. That would be profiling. That would be wrong, politically incorrect and very, very, very evil.

"It's time to open up the Armories and start assigning weapons to people."
What would you shoot? Who? How would you know? If fifty percent of the people in the metro area were shot, the odds are fifty/fifty that the sniper would be one of them. His odds are far preferable.
What a lousy idea.
To: austingirl
Does anybody know why the "spy" plane did not pick up the muzzle flash so this perp can be nailed? Are the planes flying? Did they move them south? The area being covered is over 100 miles long and 40 miles wide, larger than some countries. To see a muzzle flash, you'd have to be looking directly at the source.
These planes aren't there looking for muzzle flashes. Many other sources create larger flashes than a rifle, and I rarely recall ever seeing a muzzle flash.
