Shooting in Aspen Hill ReportedUpdated: Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 - 6:38 AM
(Rockville-AP) -- A spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire Department confirms one person has been shot in the Aspen Hill area.
Spokesman Pete Piringer says units were dispatched shortly before 6 a.m. to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Grand Pre Road for a reported shooting on a Ride-On bus.
Piringer says one adult male victim suffered a "priority one chest wound." A medevac helicopter will be taking the victim to a local trauma center.
Piringer says he's been asked by police not to disclose which hospital.
He says it is his impression that the victim was found on the bus.
This is in the Aspen Hill area of the county.
There is a huge police presence in the area and traffic is affected.
Traffic is completely stopped at Connecticut Avenue in both directions around the scene.
There is no word if the reported shooting has any connection to the sniper shootings in the Washington region.
The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. near the site of five other sniper attacks.

If I had kids in that area, they'd be staying home today.

Yes, remember the missionaries? Ransom/blackmail...
it's a freaking industry with terrorists. I'm not concinced,
but it's worth the thought.

Don't know much about those surveillance planes and hope the shooter doesn't either. The press has given out way too much information in that regard.

No word of Mongomery County schools being closed. It would be crazy to open them today. I think they are keeping the schools closed again today .. I heard a report that parents were afraid to let their kids out of the house

"...the phone booth was being watched because that is where the sniper called from saturday nite to tell police about the letter he left for them." I'd heard that this was the phone booth where these two immigrants had called from Saturday night, pretending to be the Sniper, then the same two guys came back and called from the same phone yesterday.

If the two illegals in the van were innocent, they should not have been turned over to INS. If they were connected, I beilive that they would be sittin in jail like the witness that lied to cops. The lying witness has been denied bail, that says something.
My opinion

Would be unusual if victim was found ON the bus - unless he stumbled in as he got shot. CNN reported he got shot getting on or off the bus.

Schools were closed in several VA counties yesterday. I believe school was held here in Montgomery County.

"I will admit at this point anything is possible." I agree...but isn't it interesting how the Vast LeftWing Medyuh Whore'd keeps mentioning "another Timothy McVeigh" and never "another UniBomber"!!

In view of the heavy police presence with no report of apprehension, I tend to believe this is our boy. A common thief or other criminal would have been swept up in minutes, I think.

> Agreed, IF the ransom story is true. But then, why did they send the FBI to
> Gitmo? Or was that even true?
Did anyone else notice yesterdays "news" that they are letting a group of detainees go from Gitmo? The report, think I heard on FOX, said that they didn't know anything an were being released. (Sorry if someone already posted this, I'm just getting up and haven't had my coffee yet!)

Victim being airlifted by helicopter to trauma center. With the traffic stopped, I imagine it would be very difficult to get there by ground transportation.

"If the two illegals in the van were innocent, they should not have been turned over to INS. If they were connected, I beilive that they would be sittin in jail like the witness that lied to cops. The lying witness has been denied bail, that says something." Like most criminals, these two were most likely pretty STOOOOPID, but they're not innocent, IMHO.

Are you suggesting that the prisoner release may have something to do with the murderer? Wouldn't that be interesting?

I have a feeling the Metro will be crowded when I go in to work. Caller on the road just mentioned a barricade -- I suppose I shouldn't mention where.

Todays location is near the Gates of Heaven Cemetery and a 1/4 mile from the Michael's store.
