Do you think that should have been made public? Why not? Shouldn't parents be aware of the danger?
To: ~Kim4VRWC's~
As a parent I would like that information, although I understand the difficulties involved.

Early this morning, before daylight, I saw tiny lights moving around in those woods. Could be flashlights? Also saw at least one dog, white, going into those woods about the same time as seeing the lights. Now, I see other dogs in the area. Not sure if they are coming from or going into the woods.

I mentioned in #140 that I'm sticking with the French guy scenario. A French accent is so difficult to disguise, for one. More importantly, it's been reported in the news overseas that the *marksman* guy went on vacation to Canada and the States...Chicago, I think. I read something that his family hasn't heard a thing from him...true, or untrue? It's only been a story recently, because he was only classified as AWOL maybe, a week ago. Oh, then there's the thing about the light sketch the FBI has, that friends of this guy have said resembles Mr. AWOL. I will go back and relink those articles from yesterday's posts...

I understand them not identifying the bus driver (whether he turns out to be a witness or the victim), but the family may already know. I can readily see that it is bus No. 5--it's painted on top.

The woods in Aspen Hill? Was that before or after the shooting was radioed in at 5:56 AM?

RE: hunting season. I think they banned the shooting of all firearms for the time being? Anyone else know about this?
To: getmeouttaPalmBeachCounty_FL
If he's from Yugoslavia, I don't think he'll have a French accent (unless he moved to France at an early age.)
To: rintense
I think it's hunting season in DC right now!
But seriously, this guy doesn't seem to go very deep into the woods - just places like planted highway shoulders or (possibly) cemeteries - where there wouldn't be hunting anyway. I think the Saturday night shooting, though, may have been from a somewhat more heavily wooded area.

I really don't know... parents are probably scared out of their minds anyway. This could go on forever. How long can they keep the kids out of school. (parents have to work...it's too complicated for me to know what's right and wrong about that decision)
One thing I would like to know is... why hasn't the guy addressed the issue of him being local terrorist or international..it seems that he's addressed every other speculation about him.. IE:Breaking patterns etc..
To: livius
It took them a while to close off the roads. Bill Heimmer (sp) on CNN was saying, EARLY this morning, that the Virginia Police had the roads closed down around the Ponderosa in 1 (ONE) minute. Wow.

I'm kinda torn because if they knew about it and didn't make it public, and he does indeed go after schools, then everyone will blame the police. It's like 911 and the intelligence failures. People always want someone to blame. And instead of blaming the actual criminal, they will look to blame LE.
If I were a parent in the DC area, I would personally escort my child to and from school just to ease their anxiety. It might not make them any safer, but for a child, having a parent with them makes them feel safer.

Glenspending has banned hunting in Montgomery, Prince Georges, Anne Arundel, and Howard Counties by executive order.

Lots of people don't watch television. They don't want to identify someone whose family would be overwhelmed by media before the police could talk to them.
Also, if I remember correctly, we do NOT know the identities of the survivors...only their race, sex, and age.
To: Lion's Cub
By now, I hope they've had time to notify at least some of the victim's family. But some family members may not know. They also don't release the names of the shooting victims who have survived, and so far, he's surviving. My prayers are with him and his family.

Take a hike yourself sister. I can't stand the yellow-bellied-loser, sky-is-falling attitude a bunch of people have fallen into on these threads.

Did they really? Wow. Why can't the police put their own snipers in camo up in tree stands? Yeah, I know that's a lot of square miles to cover, but at least it's something.

Also, if I remember correctly, we do NOT know the identities of the survivors...only their race, sex, and age. Wise. If they identified the survivors, there's a good chance this guy would go after them again, to complete his mission.

Well, have a nice day! LOL!
