Somone yesterday posted (I know not on what authority) that the sniper, while of French citizenship, is from "the former Yugoslavia."

Interesting about the AWOL Frenchman possibly being the sniper. I just read an article stating he left around August for the US and Canada and didn't return in September when he was supposed to.

If he is the shooter, he seems to know the area awfully well for someone who just got here about a month before the shootings began. I don't see how he could be doing this solo. It seems he'd have to be working with one or more partners. I hope they're checking this guy's background and who he's been in contact with very thoroughly.

500 METER area, just repeated. Standing on top step of bus when shot. Cops looking into back seats of ALL vehicles, pickup truck just went through, not searching trunks. One cops is wearing walking shorts, tee shirt, jacket, LOL, has gun with barrel pointed skyward. :) Very relaxed looking, but checking everyone out.

shooting someone getting on/off a commuter bus in the DC area is perfectly consistent with targeting the average joe going about everyday business.

way too many folks speculating in here are thinking like typical white, suburban, church-on-sunday, affluent, law-abiders,
rather than like the single-focus, warped morality, murderous son of a bitch that's actually doing this.

'outside the box' isn't some cute corporate cliche here folks.
this is an individual who's belief system screams not 'criminal', but 'warrior', whether you agree with his tactical definition of 'warrior' or not.

Possible... but they said it is common for passengers to get on a bus while it is sitting on layover.

Someone on the other thread posted this...My current tin-foil theory is that the sniper made his shot, then one of his accomplices took two more random shots to confuse the sensors and witnesses.

Captain Demme is not identifying it as the driver, but it sounds like it is. The are not identifying which hospital all this till the victim's family is notified.

Don't think this is the shooter. He keeps a pretty strict time schedule (for his body). The time is too early in the AM for him. Think he's still holed up in Virginia.
