The shooting was phoned in at 5:56 AM.

CNN saying wound was traumatic chest wound, but now are hearing it might be lower. That's all they said, for now.

A witness that early? Wow. Hadn't heard about 3 shots until I logged in to FR.

I bet it is a bus driver they just said they were on lay over doing paperwork. From the videos you can see more than one bus sitting there. Maybe it was a driver from another bus joining another bus driver in his bus, he enters the bus and maybe stands at the top step handing the other driver a cup of coffee or something.

I have worried about school buses since last year. Remember when that loony bus driver disappeared with a bus load of kids? Fortunately, the kids were found ok and he was just a mental case.

I remember a long time ago watching a Charles Kuralt piece about America, and how there were two things you noticed from the air everywhere in the country...church steeples and yellow school buses.

Those things are big old moving targets, and in Pakistan, India, and Isreal they have been targetted.

The county authorities should have planned such a reaction in advance. They had nearly three weeks to plan.

This is something that has bothered me, too. It seems as if very little defensive planning has been done at any level.

Maybe he's trying to show us that he's not going to be characterized by "anything". He's not in a little box..he's creating a new definition for terrorist or sniper. One that is "unpredictable". He just told us that he can fire 3 rounds and STILL not have people look in his direction, and still not have people find him.

Ok, I have a question. Is there a hunting season in the DC area anytime soon? If so, is it possible to move up the dates and 'stock' the woods with undercover police, diguised as hunters, to catch this guy?

So? The sniper could threaten to do anything .... you can't stop all sempblance of normal life, you can't be cowering mice and let him win. He'll kill you and your kids anyway -- kid's in school or not ... until you stop being ninnies and stop him.

Gov. Glenspending won't allow us to hunt in Montgomery and three adjoining counties. I'm sure hunting is not allowed in D.C.

the driver was on layover... they way they are talking is the said "they" were doing paperwork, and you can see 2 buses parked. I bet one driver went over to the other bus to join another driver. Maybe the prep watched the bus driver victim walk over to the other bus... the victim driver enters the bus and stops at the top step to hand the non victim driver a cup of coffee and bamm the victim driver is shot.

Yea, but do they keep schools closed until this idiot is captured? That could be another month or more. And if not, what determines when to reopen? I'm glad I don't have to make that decision. I'd say, "School open, attendance optional."

Yes, Lord help them, please. Like so many other freepers, I have family members and a dear friend in the area, and I worry constantly about their safety. They have no way to plan against the absolute randomness of the shootings. The killer has made sure no one is safe, no where is safe. It's hideously sadistic.
