MSNBC is showing the front of the bus... It has the "not in service" sign on the front up and the heavy wooded area is very close to the bus door.

Interesting about the AWOL Frenchman possibly being the sniper. I just read an article stating he left around August for the US and Canada and didn't return in September when he was supposed to. The first shooting in this series was Sept 14 (see NY Daily News for story, 2-3 days ago) Seems to have been a warm-up.

Hi all....another sad day.
To: Letitring
Or those of us on the West Coast finally getting ready to go to bed after a hard work day.
It is a quarter to six now gotta go to bed. To old for all nighters. Damn Sniper!
Anyway bedtime prayers for all of you that are suffering because of the creep.

Do we care, or what? :) I've seen so very much concern on these threads about this. I had no intention of being online this early, but had to get here to be with everyone and see what you people knew and were saying about it.

That's why the VA counties closed their schools yesterday (still closed today, I believe). That's why my immediate reaction upon hearing of this shooting was to say that Montgomery Co. should close its public schools. The county authorities should have planned such a reaction in advance. They had nearly three weeks to plan.

Thank you from everyone, I'm sure. Works out real well, you are praying and watching while we sleep and vise versa. :)

What a shock it was to wake up to this.... Check this out...I don't think I'll ever forget it.
"...This is awful to say, but my friends have been running errands after a shooting. They think it's when they might be safer. They really aren't certain if it's best to take the highways or use the back streets. They don't know what to watch for, as noone has told them..."

FOX said that he indeed did threaten to start shooting at schools. This is incredible. No wonder the schools closed yesterday. I thought it was a bad idea, but knowing now that there was a threat makes it easier to understand.

An actual valuable comment from Ted Williams....SCHOOL BUS STOP IS FAIRLY CLOSE TO SITE OF THE SHOOTING.
To: aristeides
The school systems are right to open the schools for several reasons.
First, by the time this latest shooting hit the news tens of thousands of middle and high school kids were already en route. How would it be safer to send them home again?
Second, MANY families simply would not get the information. Not all of us turn on the news first thing in the morning. I stay off the net until I send our elementary kid off to school.
Third, most working parents have already left for the day. Fox news just reported that while many teachers are stuck in the road blocks, every school has sufficient staff at least to supervise, if not teach, all the students.
In this case the school staffs are NOT "idiots." When this dies down I can post a couple of their security measures, but there is no need to advertise them right now, is there?
To: Letitring
We sure do...! I'm like you..I had to get on to see what information everyone has. It's kind of like "we're in this together" feeling..
I'll probably have to take a morning catnap in a while..
To: Miss Marple
And in the road blocks, there were school buses just lined up. Those things, to me, are sitting targets- as is anyone stopped in the road blocks.
To: Miss Marple
Hi Miss M...is that a school right across the street? I'm looking at the live shot on fox news
To: Miss Marple
witness says he heard 3 shots.
I was thinking he'd never fire more than one to prevent detection..
To: aristeides
I'm still fuming about yesterday's phone booth scenario. They should have followed the van to see if it lead to a hideout. To expose all the nearby folks to that is just awful and a bad memory for all.
Regardless, hope they catch him(them) soon.
Have to get to work.
Prayers to all.

I wonder why he has started to shoot low....is he trying not to kill now?
Was the bus driver standing up in the bus?

The surveillance planes can carry either infrared (heat) sensors or lowlight sensors to detect humans on the ground.
Question is: Where any surveillance planes up?

Even if money was demanded, it could be more than domestic criminality. We have managed to cut back the terrorist money supply. Terrorists could finance operations even better now if they can blackmail for $$$.Many of the domestic and European terrorist groups of the 1960s and 70s turned to bank robbery and kidnapping in order to finance their activities, as well as "strike against the system."
If we've disrupted the Al-Qaeda money transfer system, then the terrorist cells might (horror) have to get a day job.
