It'll soon be time for the school buses to take kids to high school here. Driving around a couple of days ago, I noticed what I think is a high school on Randolph Rd., a mile or so from this morning's shooting site.
To: aristeides
Do you mean moving up/down the steps to the bus? Some vertical movement, I suppose. But not much lateral movement...

Shooting reported at 5:56 AM. Site appears to be within sight of Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Two of the shootings on the morning of Oct. 3 occurred near here. That morning, he shot four people. Let's hope he doesn't try that today. Shot likely came from the cemetary, using gravestones as cover and a base to shoot from.

Last night they were talking heavy about how he would return to the areas he has already been at killing people. They think he is that bold and he wants to prove a point to police. I BET IT IS HIM AGAIN, planes or no planes... after yesterday's screw up with the police not being able to understand his voice messages... he is making a point again that he can go anywhere.

Wheaton Senior High School is on Randolph Rd. a couple of blocks east of Connecticut Ave.

I would hope they are already doing this
And I would hope the media doesn't report it if it were trueAgreed. I find it hard to believe that the military doesn't have a counter-sniper team out. I think they'll eventually get the guy, but I'm not sure if we'll hear about it.

At 6 AM, the shooter could have gotten to the Beltway going on Connecticut or Georgia Ave. in maybe 10 minutes.

Beltway shut down.
I'm guessing he either headed the other way or went directly into the District -- if he didn't go to ground right away.

The one common denominator is the effect to the economy, whitch is what OBL threatened. So far this murdering of innocent citizens has affected about 10% of 2002 business
in the effected areas. At the same time this killer is spreading fear, curtailing business and humiliating law enforcement and government agencies. Those to me seem like terrorist objectives as predicted.
Hope they get him before elections, doubt people will want to be standing around at the polls in this climate.

p.s. you're doing a great job
To: Peach
The area looked pretty dark. I guess that means he does have night siting capabilities.
To: OReilly
Did you catch that money was mentioned, but that the sniper had not asked for money? What in the world does that mean I wonder.
To: txrangerette; Peach
I'm only saying that money demands can't rule out a foreign terror source or connection Very true. I thought yesterday that this was starting to look essentially like a hostage situation. That is, he is holding the entire area hostage and making demands on someone who has the authority to give him what he wants.
That said, I still don't believe it's just one person. I also don't understand why, if the demands are simply for money, some way has not been worked out to trap him. Even if the funds are transferred electronically, he or somebody has got to retrieve them sooner or later.

The Beltway may be shut down now, but I don't think it was right away. If he got to the Beltway in 10 minutes, how far do you think he could have gotten in 20 more minutes? That's about when WMAL started reporting roadblocks.

I am so sorry everyone. This is getting rediculas! This guy is a MF.
DANG! Get him already! This is getting really creepy. My prayers to this victem. Prayers for the surgeon and trauma team.

I doubt that he goes to the freeways. He's a small roads guy.
