I agree spec.. he needs rest, he needs a break or he needs to take turns with another spokesperson. We all know how pesty the news can be....why should we expect him to not know it and treat them like the pests they are? Granted, we need info..but not badgering.

The shooter's so far shot mainly around malls, gas stations on freeways, and the like. There can't be that many such places in that area. Simply send a cop out to look around and see if there's a likely place that the shooter could use. Then stake those areas out at random. Make absolutely certain that no one knows they're being staked out. It might work.

If that's too expensive, something like a remote night vision camera might work.

Old rules still being taught. Most perps still (At least here in the midwest) don't have body armor. This summer, I went through a fire arms training course, to get recertified, and the training was still "shoot for center mass". And this was just handgun training.

I would like to see him warn people. When there is a SPECIFIC threat against a SPECIFIC target, then say so. Let the people decide for themselves how to react to it. ie school kids. I would like to see him tell us what to watch out for. ie car parked out of place in a parking lot, like at the back. I would like to see him advise us on places to avoid, ie businesses with woods close in to parking areas. I would like for him to tell us how the killer MIGHT be getting into and out of these areas. His best guess would help on that, doesn't have to be 100% accurate. I would like him to explain how a person would look for a sniper. What terrain do they prefer, etc. I would like for him to stress public safety classes, ANYTHING but "it's not appropriate." I have more, but this gets the point across, off the top of my head.

A Freeper in the DC area yesterday mentioned the newly formed habit of the residents in the Beltway was to come out en masse after a killing to get all their public business done, because they feel it is a safe time to do so. Thats a tough way to live

We do what we can do, don't we? I made a complete fool out of myself at a HUGE wedding down here in North Carolina the week before the 2000 election. I was with a bunch of big GOP donors who all believed Bush was going to lose. I gave a lecture on the electoral college using stuff I had read right here on FR.

ET, I'm with you! Tone down the conferences, limit the coverage and IF the shooter goes ballastic on another spree, then so be it.
