In my series of books, I explore this in great detail in events that get extremely bad here on our soil while our forces are fighting in the Mid East and Asia.

We're living in the sissified states of America. Our feminized culture has robbed us of the courage to deal with real adversity.

You're right and God help us if we ever have to fight in earnest to protect the homeland...

I wasn't saying LE, I had more in mind a few city/county type officials stating a PERSONAL opinion. FWIW, if people saw ANY 'leaders' of the community displaying the rhetorical b*lls, maybe quite a few more would adopt the same frame of mind. (With or without being armed)

This enemy is stone cold and calculating and committed. Every bit IMHO as much as the Nazi's and Imperial Japan ... nd I'm not talking about the Iraqi type soldiers thaty were pressed into their army at the point of a gun. I'm talking about the types that fly themselves into buildings to kill as many of us as they can. The Japanese "divine wind" types.

I pray they never get together with really powerful national resources behind them ala Red China support or them all uniting. Will make it all the more difficult to put down.

But, we'd best be ready to do whatever it takes if we value our liberty, our families, our way of life and our very lives IMHO.

Hope it doesn't come to that, but it's headed that way.

Really? That's really your opinion? If an invading army was approaching you'd vote to leave them open?

An invading army is approaching. In fact they are already here. They have already destroyed one of our largest business buildings, should we shut them all down in fear? Should we evacuate the Sears Tower tonight? Should we have our election in early November or should we suspend it because voters might be in danger?

Just what are you willing to shut down? All gas stations? All steakhouses?

In 1864 I do believe that the US actually held its Presidential election with war going on within a few miles of Washington DC. Thats part of the reason the north won that war. It would have been a lot different if the north had shut everything down in fear I think.

The people there will need to do it ... the citizens ... the fathers, brothers, uncles of these kids.

Same everywhere else if it really hits the fan.

"When one thinks of the Blitz of London and how they continued with life during that. Are we capable of doing the same anymore?"

I'm not arguing one way or the other for school closings, but during the Blitz, many if not most, children were evacuated from London to the countryside.

Actually, I didn't understand it either until you explained it. And, it is a very good point.

Trav is talking abput the principle.

I have no love lost for our public education system as you are well aware. But the idea of us hiding and holing up in our homes over this is what Trav is referring to IMHO. ... Don't mean to put words in your mouth there Travis.

I'm out.

This would not even be possible, were it not for our reactionary culture. This country has to continually learn the lessons if forgets, every time we elect a Kennedy or a Carter, or a Clinton, we are going to suffer the consequences.

Our enemies understand that their greatest asset is our stupid liberal media, the NEA, the NAACP, the ACLU and others.

I believe this sniper is a terrorist, because by not making his intentions known, he is allowing the media to whip this nation into hysteria.

What we really need is a news blackout on this criminal, but the media would never go for it. Instead we have Chief Moose(for brains) asking the sniper to call him collect.

We are so screwed.........

Trav is talking abput the principle.

Personal responsibility should be the principle. What a bunch of idiot beaurocrats do should be the least of our worries. Parents who want their children safe will not rely on the decisions of the public school administrators to pull their children from an obviously dangerous situation.

This could be a blessing. This might induce some parents to start taking the responsibility of protecting their children more seriously.

Sending them away to places other than their own loving protective homes is dangerous. Let the public schools close. Forever.

I see what you mean, and you are right. But, if one is shot at home it is not the litigatious event of one shot in school, perhps.

If we didn't have a government full of anti-American, politicians I might agree with that, but the fact is, we have a government that has toss'ed over the old America by shipping in about 50 to 60 million strangers in on us in the last 37 years. A big chunk of that having arrived in the last ten years, and no end in sight. Now both parties are encouraging illegals to vote. What is there to stand up for I ask ya?

This isn't the America of yesteryear. Everyone looks out for number one, there is no cohesion. I think it would be a good idea for parents all over the USofA to take their kids out of school, buy nothing but food and gas, shut down the economy, and blackmail the government into doing something useful for a change, like not accepting visa's or immigrants from terrorist nations, and doing something about our borders and illegals.

But like I said, there is no cohesion anymore, it didn't take long after 9-11 to find that out. If it isn't happening to you, it isn't happening, seems to be the rule of the day. I don't blame the unarmed people in that area for shutting down.

Top story this hour is as follows.....

Virginia Newpaper reporting that the note to authorities contains a good deal of text and was found in the area that the shooting took place. Many, I repeat MANY Taro Cards have been found at the scenes of the shootings. They believe at this time that the message with number to contact was left by the sniper last night.

I agree with what you said in your post. But shutting down things as a protest is different in my mind from shutting things down out of fear.

An invading army is approaching.

Disengenuous. My point was to show that you might have more than one opinion depending upon the circumstance. We are agreed that the threat is not as great as if a full regiment were approaching (unless you're really serious and would leave children in a building to "go about their business" even in the face of an eminent threat).

But VA is a soverign state and has the authority to close schools even if it makes people in other states angry.
