Just reported. Took place outside of a Ponderosa Steakhouse. Not sure if it is related or not at this time. Police have shut down parts of I-95.

I agree the natural tendency is to freeze up. Having a plan can make a difference if you are confronted with a real emergency scenario. I think imagining and planning what you would do if... is a good thing.

I can't possibly list out every scenario of coming across a white van that might be related to a sniper event.

Seeing the shooting is one thing, seeing a van leaving is another, with maryland plates another, with ME guys inside another; I'll know how far to go if and when the time comes. However if I am certain the Van is trying to beat it out of there, I won't let it get away if I can stop it. If I'm not certain, I'll just follow.

This white van connection is most likely a red herring. I think this kind of thing is an overreaction. I'd be getting my van painted any color other than white if I lived in MD/VA right now.

Law enforcement are stopping and handcuffing all drivers in white vans that fit a description in the current Washington area sniper attacks.

Actually nobody can do anything until this guy makes another move (unfortunately may be too late for someone else). But I guarantee that folks around here were really stirred up when the shootings were confined to the DC area. It was almost like we were expecting him to move down here. We are really gonna be on our toes now, hopefully one or more of us will get a bead on this guy.
