Private citizens could also be encouraged, by the gov't, to pursue the goblins, or even shoot at them (if circumstances warranted) without fear of prosecution.

Another proponent of "Don't stop traffic, it's against my Constitutional rights, but definitely SHOOT EVERYONE!!!"

I have wondered, in this war I think it is clear they can't invade and capture OUR country, therefore they must be trying to achieve a victory much like the Tet Offensive did for the NVA. The Tet Offensive was a coordinated attack throughout South Vietnam, it effectively killed support for the war at home in the states even though it was eventually repulsed. It was a great political victory for the NVA. Unless AQ has gotten their hands on a bunch of nukes or nasty bio or chems, I would suspect that would be their plan, small coordinated attacks throughout the country. This could just be a warm up. Hell it worked for the NVA.

Didn't they catch a terrorist in Belgium the other day that said that they were training Al-Queda snipers in Afganastan to attack in the US?

Good observation John H K.

When you come down to it, the teacher is proabably correct. We're just scropping for staws. (or is it it gropping?)

I teach American history and we have never fought a FOREIGN enemy on our own shores...all the combatants in the civil war were Americans!

Didn't the British burn Washington during the War of 1812? Wasn't General Pershing chasing Pancho Villa around Arizona or New Mexico prior to WW I?

I somehow just cannot imagine if this were happening in George Washington's time or Patrick Henry's time, that, when learning that someone had been shot by an enemy (most likely) he would say, "Well don't ask my help! I have my rights you know!"

Their response would have been "How can I help? Martha, get me my gun!"

Many of those engagements were naval---a fact that contributed to the start of the war....the illegal impressment of American sailors into British service

The main reason the war started is that a lot of Americans wanted to take Canada from Britain. The impressment helped turn public opinion against Britain, but it largely was a convenient excuse to attempt to invade Canada.

The congressmen from the Northeast coastal regions that had their citizens being impressed were OPPOSED to the war (because it basically ended American international trade for years); the people that were FOR the war were southerners and "westerners" inland, that were keen on invading Canada.

If you own a gun or a white van, you are the sniper...

Who said that. Name and date, please.

Is this what you're talking about?

If memory serves I believe Pancho waltzed across the border and burned down a town in New Mexico.

It sounds like the one you're making; if you think it's logical, that's on you.

"There is no greater right than the right to actually live--all others are meaningless if that one cannot be guaranteed."

Actually there is a greater right than the right to just live, and that is: The right to live in freedom and liberty, with the ability to think freely and to believe in the Truth, not some government-sanctioned politically-correct dogma.
