A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

Something to think about..."All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten"
These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Take any of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your goverment or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all goverments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and clean up their own mess. And it is still true, no matter how old you are - when you go out into the world, it is the best to hold hands and stick together. Author: R.Fulghum ("All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten" has been around for awhile, but I think these rules are worth repeating and thinking about....especially the part about holding hands and sticking together.)

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~ Mixer |

You're not going to believe this. I'm stealing a minute at the hostess's house to send this message. The hostess' husband said, "My grandaddy was a democrat, my daddy was a democrat, and I'm a democrat, I wouldn't vote for a Republican if my life depended on it. And I don't believe in women preachers." I thought it would be great to use his computer to come to FR and say, "I MISS YOU GUY!" Now I have to go. Having fun with all these demos. Tell you about it later. Nan

You've fallen into a living room of pinheads - please bring us pictures of these weak thinkers so we can avoid them. ;-)

Off to a late start this morning, wanna say thank you for today's good coffee. The Pledge graphic is so elegant and beautiful.
Thank all you Hostess-babes for your very kind words yesterday...I was having a pretty good day at work and your thoughts made it even better, made me glow a bit, I think.
It's quiet and gray outside my window, work beckons, which I'll be doing from home this weekend, but I'll be sitting in your cafe the whole time, enjoying that bottomless cup of coffee, Freeping out of the corner of my eye.
Hope you all rest easy, and let the love and communion you share with all us Freepers come back to you, keeping you warm and safe.
God bless America.
(Go Dubya, let's roll.)
