WICHITA, Kansas (AP) -- The grim details of how two brothers allegedly committed a nine-day crime rampage that left five people dead are being closely monitored by a community that is still shaken nearly two years after the slayings and more than a month into the brothers' murder trial.

but a slap in the face is included as theymetion Nazi and White Supremacist protests.Well, it's not like AP made this up, is it?
" Weeks before the trial was set to begin, a Nazi group
held a rally in Topeka where the case was repeatedly
cited. "

Well there were more than just Nazis upset that this story has not received the attention it deserves with regard to hate crimes. I'm disappointed... If this story were about white people committing these crimes against blacks, no matter what the "motivation" was, the media would be all over it as a hate crime.
I guess I shouldnt be surprised, but it is still a small victory for all the Freepers who helped out in my e-mail campaign.
To: gcruse
They should indicate how many Nazis and White Supremacists rallied. Usually its between 2 and 5.
If between 2 and 5 Freepers showed up somewhere there would be no mention. If between 2 and 5 Nazis show up its national news and a "rally".

The case has become a rallying cry for white supremacist groups across the nation because the suspects are black while all the victims were white. Weeks before the trial was set to begin, a Nazi group held a rally in Topeka where the case was repeatedly cited. ********
No, this case should be a rallying cry for all Americans to stop the PC insanity. No murder was ever committed without hate some where along the line. Calling a capital crime a "hate crime" is lunacy. To burry such a savage murder behind a PC cloak is criminal. For the press to try and minimalize this case because a "NAZI" group held a rally is criminal.

What other groups gravitated to the trial? Was NOI anywhere in sight? ACLU? Death penalty activists? Anybody? If a Freeper showed up with a sign, would he be tarred by "association"?

Unbelievable. You can literally see the author of the article thumbing through the liberal play-book, musing, "Hmmm. Court TV is picking up on this trial, so we can't ignore it forever. How can I spin this to make it look like it's no big deal, or that white people weren't picked for all sorts of hatred, humiliation and murder because of the color of their skin? I know! I'll ignore the dozens of mainstream Conservative articles pointing out the blatant double standard when it comes to the media's coverage of black-on-white crimes and focus on a few Nazis-- yes, NAZIS!-- that protested these black hate crimes!"
Problem solved. Roll the presses.

The thumb in the eye here is the lack of national
press coverage of this atrocity. The white supremacist
angle really isn't the point, but it exists nonetheless.

The national press can't be bothered to cover a story like this. They are too busy putting together the latest retelling of the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd stories. It is very necessary to report stories that fit the political template, comrade. Stories like this one only confuse the sheep and make them restless.

There is a thread here somewhere discussing
reluctance of black on white rape victims to
report the crimes for fear of being seen as
racist. PC has turned us into a society afraid
to lift a hand in its own defense. Suicide,
anyone?

Given the outrages committed against the women, one would expect NOW to be all over the TV demanding justice. But I suppose they will say it was covered under the new "one free grope" rule they established for their boy Clinton.
Of course they would have no interest whatsoever in the men who were murdered.

How can I spin this...Yep- that pretty much sums it up. My own picture was of the young reporter being told to write up the story and the editor coming over about half way through and advising the reporter to add that bit "for balance".
Despicable.

NOW = Irrelevant

People have commented on the fact that these victims didn't fight back. I know that they were very committed Christians, and I'm wondering if their religion taught them that it is wrong to fight back? "Turn the other cheek" and all of that.
I'm wondering if we are living in an era of "toxic religious mutation", where major religions are morphing into something wholly different from what they once were or were intended to be.
Christianity seems to be infatuated with a passitivity that borders on self-immolation. Meanwhile, Islam seems to be infatuated with helping Christianity to self-immolate, torching civilizations everywhere it goes and praising how beautiful they look illuminated by firelight.

Just an isolated incident. Not a hate crime. Nothing to see here, folks, move along, move along

"...the lack of national press coverage of this atrocity". I read Free Republic for my news and it is being reported here. I watch only FoxNews and hear nothing. I no longer buy newspapers so I don't know if it's being reported in them. But being that it is such a horrific case, the silence from the media is deafening. Ah, if only one of those poor people had a gun. And, as another poster said, why didn't they fight back somehow. I've never been in such a ghastly circumstance, but I like to think I would have died fighting.
I remember once, many years ago when I lived in Queens, a friend and I had dinner together after work and we took the subway home. It was well past rush hour, but the train had a fair amount of folks on it. Suddenly the door to our car smashed open and about eight black guys, who would make the two who murdered these people look like angels, came in. It was truly frightening - beyond belief scary. I remember thinking "Well if I'm gonna die, my only weapon are my finger nails and one may kill me, but I'll pull his eyes out before I die". These guys didn't cause any trouble on the train that night. These days, law abiding citizens must be armed and angry in order to survive. Anger is good. Strong anger helps overcome fear. Rage is even better.
