ANNOUNCING: THE PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA II, OCTOBER 26 IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
D.C. Chapter ^ | Monday, October 14, 2002 | Kristinn

Posted on 10/14/2002 6:23:11 AM PDT by kristinn

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, October 26, 2002 for the Patriots Rally for America II.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism, we will be gathering to show support for our troops, America and to serve as a patriotic counter-point to the anti-American leftists who will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march the same day in D.C.

The "anti-war" rally, organized by International ANSWER, will be held right next to the Vietnam War Memorial on the Mall at Constitution Gardens, a safe four blocks away from our rally site at the Washington Monument.

The Patriots Rally for America will feature speakers and recorded music. Supporters are encouraged to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, please bring signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops and the war on terrorism.

The anti-American left will be fearmongering that day; raising their tired old cliches of quagmires, body bags and blood for oil. Their real message is that America is an evil nation and should not defend itself against any threats.

They dream of re-living the glory days of the Sixties, when spitting on soldiers and burning the flag were 'cool.'

While we respect their First Amendment rights to speak out (indeed, several of our members fought to protect those rights), we vehemently disagree with their message and will not allow them to take to the streets unanswered.

Members of the D.C. Chapter are financing the Patriots Rally for America, but we could use some help. We have pared back our budget for this rally to around $4,000 compared to the $7,000 we spent on last April's Patriots Rally.

The cost for staging, sound and porta-potties will be around $3,500. We are budgeting $500 for incidental costs.

If you would like to help, please click this link.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, October 26, 2002 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Washington Monument at the corner of 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW.

Thanks for keeping this bumped. I did a brief interview with the Washington Post earlier this week. Hopefully they'll have a story about the rallies this weekend.

We've got alot of work to do to get the word out. We'll be working hard at it this weekend and during next week.

Wasn't my car -- it was Gore_ War_ Vet's truck. Hopefully, none of us will caught in the DC police towing loop. Thanks for thinking about me.

Muggs and I were at the Freeper Clinton Impeachment Rally in December of I believe it was 1999, at the Capital Dome area. I remember it was unseasonlly warm and sunny, and speakers included Bob Barr, and Klayman. And there was a little dog that chased a tennis ball all day with a little doggie sweater on that said IMPEACH BUDDY ! We marched to the White House and had a great time. Do you remember this. What was the real name of the event...muggs and I can't remember.

That was the Judgment Day rally on December 5, 1998. It was unseasonably hot that day. The march to, and rally at the White House afterwards were great!

All this talk of colors, blueneck - redneck, reminds me that I should tell everyone that I will have plenty of facepaint/makeup for those of you who show up in kilts...

The thefts don't spook me; after all I've lived in this area almost all my life, and I've watched its downward evolution - and made appropriate adjustments in my supplies and behavior that should serve me well in a dangerous situation. I'm just PO'd that the little rat bastards stole so many good signs. That means more work for me to make new ones.. and my time is already stretched too thin. Sleep deprivation is typical with me lately.

Enough of my non-productive whining! I have work to do!

I'm still keeping my eyes open for the signs to be dumped somewhere nearby... the cop who took the (phone) report got a big laugh when I was describing some of the signs that were stolen, especially when I told him about the one with the real picture of Clinton groping a stewardess.

See you Saturday!

You call that thing a mallet? Is it the one with the 3' hickory handle? Maybe that's GWV's... I do have a smaller mallet that I seem to have picked up that day.

I also have some metal tubing, looks like canopy poles... somebody should be missing them about now. Answer up if anyone claims ownership and I'll bring them along...

I have to figure out a way to carry the flags in/on my new vehicle, too.

I looked at the finalists for the Pentagon Memorial... I must not have an artists eye. I think they're all pretty ugly, to be truthful. I prefer simple things; a marker with a brief "history" of what happened and the names of those killed by the terrorists; with a promise to never allow something similar to happen again. Ever.

I did a brief interview with the Washington Post earlier this week. Hopefully they'll have a story about the rallies this weekend.

We probably shouldn't hold our breath waiting for fairness from the Washington Post. And I don't think it's the fault of the reporters; it appears that the editors have issues with fairness in reporting.

If they do manage to give us a little mention, I hope they get the date and location correct this time. ;-)

We've got alot of work to do to get the word out. We'll be working hard at it this weekend and during next week.

I've contacted a bunch of area young republican groups. Too early to know the results yet.

"We've got alot of work to do to get the word out."

I'll be on the Bob Durgan radio show (WHP covers Harrisburg/Allentown) this coming Wed or Thur.

If any of you have a local conservative talk radio station, call in. Great free advertising.

For Friday night, may I suggest the Orleans House again? It worked out great the last time. But, that is really your decision.
