I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

Patriotlad: I had conversations with two men who are veterans: one was an Army sniper. The other was in the Navy, who reached rank of captain, and was trained in marksmanship and the basics of sniper techniques. Both were of the opinion -- forcefully rendered -- that the Maryland shooter is some kind of a random, Sadistic nut. The Bowie shooting is thus, you say, a part of a different operation ??

Black-flower Woman: The Bowie shooting marked the beginning of Phase II, where the sniper plans to use a wider diameter around the Washington area, and do the shootings further apart, in a SPIRAL (a significant symbol to the Illuminati) to keep law enforcement totally confused. The Manassas shooting confirms this. On this current course, I would expect the next shooting to be in Frederick County, Maryland, possibly near Ft. Detrick. [Black-flower Woman also said, explicitly, that she hopes there is no second phase operation of any duration -- Patriotlad]

Black-flower Woman: After Frederick, will come something in the Baltimore area, near Johns Hopkins, or maybe near Aberdeen Proving Ground, and then something in Southern Maryland, perhaps near Patuxent Naval Research Station. This will probably play out over the course of the next week or so, and then we'll see another shooting in or around Fredericksburg, and we'll know that this operation has ended. There are many variations on the theme, but I would expect the "spiral" theory to play out in one way or another.

Black-flower Woman: Unless of course they catch the person in the meantime. That would be great of course, but it sure doesn't sound like they have the kind of profile that will enable them to do it based on profiling. If they do catch him ... or her, it will be pure dumb luck.

Thermal hand held versions of a FLIR cameras and scopes can look at a grassy field and see a "warmer" spot if the person lay in wait for a long time.

I wish that they would use the "real thing," not just a hand held version. Four or five AC130 Gunships could cover a wide area and could immediately respond to any area called by LEO. They could track and direct LEO to the perp - day or night. And, the perp would never know they are there.

I read an article years ago which predicted an anti-sniper device with built in return-fire capability. As in 'Instant' return fire. I suppose it's possible . . .

If the sniper is not a terrorist then he could likely be a service guy who covers the D.C. area. That said, he would be in the areas where the killings took place for service calls. It would seem that an employer who has employees driving white vans with ladders should be able to look at where their employees were called on certain days. Employers should go back and check to see if their employees were in any of the areas where the killings took place on those dates and times. They also need to see if any appointments in those areas were missed or if their serviceman showed up late. It would seem to me that businesses really need to check to see where their men were. Maybe then we will be closer to catching this bastard.

LOL -- Sorry about that. I had originally posted this on another thread last night -- it was a suggestion for using a group of multiple police/civilian snipers positioned throughout the D.C. area in an attempt to disable him.

No, I a link to a story about a sniper called "outlaw" who leaves a unique shell casing and tarot card (the death card, no less) is of interest to this thread.

Note the description of how the card is left in the story. The picture description offers enough info to identify a specific tarot deck... I'm going deck hunting.
