NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg
The Free Lance-Star ^ | now | Jim Lakely

Posted on 10/11/2002 6:54:58 AM PDT by seamus

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

AM 570 - A witness say a device with 2 handles onto of the van. He got a glimpse of the driver. The light turned green and the white van took off, going south on Route 1.

Seems like school shootings are sudden acts of violent murder. Not like sniping down poor folks and taunting the society playing GAMES with police.

You move through the trees and the darkness with him, and stalk the same prey he stalks, until you can practically smell him in the air.

Umm, This is a big place. You could be sitting in the dark for a long time smellng gas fumes.

TV 7 - The area behind the Exxon station is taped off with crime scene tape and there's lots of police activity there.

Yeah,I know brass is softer but at one time I had friend,"firearms expert" that I trusted and was with a state investigative bureau, tell me a brass brush was enough to change the groove markings to the point of not being able to positively match bullets.

He could be wrong but I questioned him on it and he stood by it.

Wouldn't that suggest that they either have an id or have something belonging to the suspect so that the dog can get a scent? Or is that just the way it works in the movies?

Spotsylvania schools were locked down at 9:40. They sure acted fast.

In the movie "Stand By Me" didn't the principal Joe Clark go to jail for locking school doors? I guess the times are changin' if they are allowed to do it now....until they have a fire and trap a bunch of kids who cannot escape due to locked doors.

The police interviewed several people. The van was seen leaving the area. They are not sure if it was involved in the shooting.
