I know many folks will hate to hear this, but I'd say it's time to start detaining/deporting foreign nationals.

Your sentiment should stand without qualification. Screw anyone who doesn't see the obvious need for Americans to take control of our own security.

Do muslims have morning prayers or do they wait until later?

I can't tell you exact times, but there are five daily prayers times in Islam: Dawn, Midday, Afternoon, Evening and Late Evening.

It might not have very much to do with prayer times, but with the cover and confusion that rush hour provides -- not to mention media coverage is guaranteed for the entire day. Two shootings didn't take place in the morning: DC (early evening) and Fredericksburg (mid-afternoon).

I can tell you there is nothing to do except what you are told.

So true. I have trained and watched my friends train in the martial arts and prepare for all kinds of situations but when you are training the threat is not as real as when the real thing happens. Hopefully the training will all be applied but the situations are very different.

We have satellites that can pick up a license plate...

Yes we do, but they are not tasked to look at the US. Perhaps we could ask the Russians if they have anything?

we sure havn't heard "Muslim terrorist" come out of their mouths at all. Wonder when that is going to happen

When they figure out how to cover their arses for never reporting that terrorist training tape or the reports that they were planning to target the schools...

Re: Gun Laws, etc. -- I am a shy, peaceful, middle-aged, homeschooling mom and a bit afraid of guns...but if this turns out to be terrorist related, and if it escalates or moves to other areas, I'm going to go gun shopping and I will carry concealed and I will teach my kids how to handle guns safely, how to shoot and protect themselves

Here's another possibility: A guy in my office recalls a situation many years ago involving mulitiple murders in the same area over a several week period that appeared connected in MO, but random in the selection of the victims. The initial police profile pointed to a psycho-serial killer. In fact, when the killer was finally caught the evidence showed that the killer and one of the victims knew each other (the guy in my office thinks they were involved in a business deal gone sour), and he killed the other victims in random fashion to send the police on a wild goose chase.

I think you aimed your response at the wrong poster. I agree with you completely.

I responded to criticism of the Mother for taking her child to the hospital herself and not waiting for EMS. While waiting may have been the "sensible" thing to do, who among us would not have done precisely what that Mom did? Police and military personnel drill constantly to achieve the goal of making the "right" decisions in moments of high stress, and even they don't always succeed. She acted on instinct, and I would never presume to second guess that reaction. She gets my prayers, not criticism.

My initial gut instinct is telling me that this guy is too good to be a muslim terrorist. All the palestinians can do is manage to throw rocks. I think this is a well paid, very experienced, cold blooded assassin paid by the muslims. I bet their are only 5-10 people capable of pulling this off.

A whack job would leave clues and a muslim would want to make a name for himself right off the bat. Muslims walk right into LAX and start shooting. This guy is a pro.

But the table full of guns that the LEO's put out for the benefit of the press--and then told the locals to report anyone they knew who owns guns and even went as far to say "even if they don't own .223's--you never know---"
Not to mention the public criminalization of law abiding citizens who happen to subscribe to Guns&Ammo magazine.
My prayers to the entire community in MD and for all the good law abiding people who believe in defending themselves and their families.

Would it be better for MD schools to let their kids out around noon today (so that the kids won't be outside close to evening rush hour)?

JMO = just my opinion.

I just started reading "American Jihad" this morning. I'm afraid our country in inundated with terrorists. It is possible that the OBL tape (I don't believe it is OBL) mentioning 'youths' was a signal to target our children.

Why wait, just remember cops never prevent a crime, they only come in to mop up the results. The only thing that can protect you is you.

I don't agree. In the suburbs, ambulance response times are like 2-3 minutes.

Come on... lets get serius! It takes them 2-3 minutes to get into the vehicle. I've measured it in Montgomery County (personal calls, heart attack and auto injury) and it varies from 10 minutes at best to >30 minutes. It took 30 minutes for this to even hit the news.

***That's what I just said to my husband. What was the cop doing INSIDE the school - he should have been standing at the front door as kids were being dropped off.***

The guy didn't want to get shot? In all seriousness, schools are big places, one guy doesn't have a chance of covering the whole thing.

not under the scrutiny of American media and police briefings steeped in political correctness and dancing around what the true nature of things are.

With all due respect, I think you're off-base here. I seriously doubt there's much in the way of PC here. They're in the middle of something bad and confusing, and the last thing they want to do is say the wrong thing, and to make things worse -- both for the people in the area, and also for the prospects of finding out who's committing these crimes.

I'm sure they know much more than we are being told..but think maybe they want to trap the whole group (cell). These attacks are well coordinated, i.e., he (they) knows he can get a shot off from an "invisible" location and has likely visited every site before.

I still believe he's on foot for a good part of this and it almost looks like a relay...so more than one sniper is involved.

The first shot (window at Michael's) was a deliberate miss. The next series were clean kills, the last were not "kill" shots and the last one was even two shots....leading me to believe that there are at least two shooters.

It's called "sharing" the terrorist paycheck and getting the credit.

The first sniper is totally somewhere else already and no one saw him).!!!
