Why wait, just remember cops never prevent a crime, they only come in to mop up the results. The only thing that can protect you is you.

Good for you!!!!

Don't wait.
All the gun owners I know are peaceful, you don't need to be a crazed nut to own a gun.

(the kids, too!) May I suggest clicking here and finding a nearby NRA class?

IMHO, you should do those things anyway.
We have five kids three now out of the house. All of them know how to shoot and how to do so responsibly.
But remember this at all times, guns are not safe, they are not meant to be. Never, for a second, let yourself or any one in your household, think they are.
At the same time, having the right and the capability and the will to defend one's self is, next to faith in God, the bedrock American tradition. It is what these terrorists here operating on our soil are ultimately going to run up against if they keep pusing it. It is also what our own control freeks and gun grabbers will one day run up against if they keep trying to disarm us and keep us from defending ourselves.
God bless.

Lot's of resources on the internet for woman who describe themselves as "gun-shy-but-interested".

What difference does it make if it is terrorist related or not?
Buy a gun, learn to use it, and train your family.

It makes your kids as gunproof as possible, since it removes the "forbidden fruit" aspect. It's also an obligation of American citizenship, to be armed and familiar with the use of arms IMHO at least.
