That's Camp David up in western Maryland. At least 30+ miles away, I think. (Up Route 270 from the Washington Beltway -- 495)

Okay...all the shootings are connected.
I believe "Sniper No. 1" has left the area at least temporarily with someone else. He is the arms expert, No. 1 marksman and the planner.
The second "sniper" is now active and responsible for the last two "Non Kill" shots.
He and a third person will continue to take "non'kill" shots.
What is "Sniper No. 1" up to??
Don't forget, Atta and friends constantly rented vehicles for a couple of weeks at a time to get around. Rentals might be a place to look.

It sounds like school officials aren't adapting to this type of threat in a very intelligent manner. Keeping cars away from the building makes sense if you are protecting against a bombing, but it make no sense to make people cross an extra distance of open ground when the threat is a sniper. They are probably defaulting to their standard procedures for "terrorist threat". I hope that some parents point that out to them.

They interviewed a neighbor. The boy was a good kid, helped mow the lawn, easy to be friends with, not involved in gangs. He was being raised by his aunt and uncle. So sad.

Camp David...not sure of the exact mileage...but a good 50 minute drive or so from where the bulk of these shootings took place. It's about 10 min from Emmittsburg...and takes about an hour to drive to Emmittsburg from Rockville( w/ light traffic)

"Maybe his target was outside the store and the (lucky) target moved."Temporarily lucky target, IIRC...but good possibility.

Here's a map, approx 55 miles:
1 = Silver Spring, 2 = Camp David (approx)

The only other thing you can do is be personally careful, as you mentioned, and also pray that God (who sees all this from above and knows precisely where the culprit(s) is/are, causes something that trips up these animals to bring about their capture. People must be on pins and needles over there.

"For you people outside the DC area: If this were to be happening in your town, what would be the reaction?Lock and Load--stay sharp--minimize risks--and ask God to keep a blanket of protection over all of the good people in the community. I live in a state where gun ownership is not looked upon as a "crime" and many good folks are willing to protect the things in life that mean the most to them. IF you are overcome with a sense of helplessness, powelessness and fear for family, I would suggest spending more time at the shooting range. It is a great confidence booster and allows to to feel like you are your family's number one line of defense. Self reliancy and self preservation are deep rooted American qualities.

For you people outside the DC area: If this were to be happening in your town, what would be the reaction? I'm not in the crescent like you but I live in AA county. Also, I manage a shopping center in PG county, Marlborough Village. Down 301 just a bit from Bowie. Due to my job, I am often in that area.
I've read your lament and while I can't say what I'd do if I lived somewhere else, I certainly understand your rage. I'm sitting here in my kitchen on a lovely Fall day full of this same rage.
Some have mentioned why the Governor hasn't spoken, not that I want this creep on my TV. But I *do* think it's time for the citizens of this state to take SOME action. What, I don't know.
How about beginning with hints on how to avoid being a victim? It's a damn shame but I think advice to avoid standing too long in one place, ie to present a moving target, might be a start. I'm also furious that late last week the police ASSURED us that school children are safe.
I guess what I'm saying in my rage is it's about time Maryland citizens STOP making themselves sitting duck targets. I don't know whether Maryland citizens will send their kids tomorrow. I'm thinking they shouldn't. My one and only child is grown so it's not an issue with me. But I'm starting to get real mad that they keep having press conferences without the suave-haired Glendenning showing up to what? Maybe help keep the peace? Maybe show that our government cares? This lackadaisical attitude is starting to infuriate me.

My reaction would be to protect my child. Homeschool.
To: Sacajaweau
I must disagree....
You are reading to much into why the last two victims survived.....Fredericksburg victim has loading bags into her minivan....she moved as he shot.
Todays victim....was getting out of car......could have turned at the last minute to say goodbye to his Aunt..

Most of these shots have been taken from 100-200 yards out? FBI used to train some pretty good snipers. I ain't sayin this killer is the FBI gone bad, or nothing like that. I guess what I'm tryin to point out is the caliber of killer we got here. He ain't that good. He is good, but not one of the greats. FBI had one guy who was one of the best, ever, bar none. They say great assasins are born and then improve. :) I think this killer has had some sort of military type training. Not like the Marines, but maybe in one of those terrorist camps. Not like the FBI, somewhat less than that. I'm just guessin here, but I think I like Hammas for this.
