It sounds like school officials aren't adapting to this type of threat in a very intelligent manner. Keeping cars away from the building makes sense if you are protecting against a bombing, but it make no sense to make people cross an extra distance of open ground when the threat is a sniper. They are probably defaulting to their standard procedures for "terrorist threat". I hope that some parents point that out to them.

I noticed that at the Middle School coverage this morning; a child had just been shot approaching the school on foot, and yet the schoolbuses were still discharging the kids a few hundred yards from the building entrance.

Ryzaroo, if this is a public school, I'd keep your kindergardener home tomorrow, and if you're paying for this abuse in a private school, let them have it! (You can let the public school have it too, but their bureaucratic ears are plugged.)
