That's been my take on it from day 1 also. D@MN I hate getting online first thing in the afternoon and finding tragic news! (Come to think of it, I hate getting online at ANY time and finding tragic news!)
Which is exactly why all these officials are trying so hard not to tell us what they already know in their guts.
I can understand them not saying definatively that this is related to the other shootings until they have something concrete, but not puting the proper security in place after failing to warn the public is really not very responsible.
Yes -- And furnish the kids with kevlar helmets and flak jackets. Now that we've imported the enemies of America, and given them all the liberties we enjoy in this country, it's only logical that it should take on the appearance of a battle zone . . .
Because if it's AQ terrorism, they gain a lot from it being anonymous and seemingly random. Once you've got a perp and a cause, the mystique is gone. Once you claim responsibility, the focus shifts from fear and uncertainty, to anger and "hunt the bastards down." The whole point of the exercise -- which is to set the stage for something else -- is subverted.

There is altogether too much effort beiiing focused into making this a "spree" killing. They had a "former" FBI profiler say that it would be a 20-30 year old white guy, disenfranchised from society yada..yada..yada.. Then there is the BOLO (Be On LookOut) for 2 hispanic or potentially middle eastern males in a white box van. Notice, the formost reference is to hispanic and not middle eastern. Then there is the choice of vehicle. Did it cross anyones mind that a box van is not the most expeditious of get-away vehicles??? Since these clowns already had murder on their minds, wouldn't a Camero or Mustang be a better choice. Why not just 'jack a speedier vehicle??? Maybe because the box van is packed with ANFO in case they are surrounded???
The real key to this will be if another city starts having similar activity. It is my contention that a message is beng composed and sent. That message is that "we can get you anywhere. You are not safe".
From a more subliminal level, there is going to be the logical liberal backlash that the police cannot protect us, and then when more draconian methodologies are used (as a result to the hue and cry that nothing is being done) then thee will be the "police state" outcry... No, this is a carefully thought out terror campaign.
There is however a wildcard. Like it or not, there are contingents in the US that view a conflagration with glee. These groups are on both the FAR FAR right and the FURTHER left. They could be attempting to instigate a war. That bears consideration.
On a related front, there is the 6 arrests in Oregon et.al.. It is interesting that among the arrested an ex-body guard for Quanel X from the Black muslim movement and an ex assistant to Vera Katz. Does anybody else find the timing interesting???
On my way to my office this AM I heard a story about another shooting at a WalMart. I havn't seen anything on the wires about it yet. But in the newscast, they referenced that boy who had been shot earlier. So it would appear that it is starting.
If I am correct (and I pray that I am not) This is a precursor to a spate of such activity. It would beneit all to remember that Halloween is approaching. Lots of kids on the streets, potential targets for drive-by shootings. Consider the level of panic that could be construed if one or two little ones are shot while innocently trick-or-treating. The PD would be going in multiple directins at once. Two or three shooters in major cities could send the Police infrastructure into fits. If the boy at the school is indeed ties to this, then I look for a very somber and reserved Halloween.
At my police Department, we are mobilizng EVERY officer to be on the streets Halloween night.
I know that this is depressing to think about, but, at some point we have to come to grips with reality. Our adversaries consider us to be sub-human already. Do you ACTUALLY think that they will draw the line at shooting children??? Not bloody likely. This is the same fundmental crowd that has no compunction to bomb schools and buses in Israel.
No, they have publically stated that they were "coming for our children". While I cannot fault the authorities with attempting to forestall a panic and to a larger measure, prevent vigilante attacks on musli and mistaken attacks on Hindu Sihks,
I feel that we, as a nation, must "gird our loins" for war. But, this war will not be the kind that we have become used to on CNN. This is going to be in our streets, at our stores and shopping centers. Appeasement and surrender won't work. Only complete and total anhiliation of our enemy will be the solution.
I am truly sorry if my comments offend the sensiblities of some of our more sensitive Freepers, (spelt "5") but, it is a regretable truth. I have spoken my piece and will now recede back into the lurking mist. I do however give this advice to those FREEPERS who do "give a $hit...."
