OK, FReepers, let's try to help out law enforcement!

Please post your sightings and pictures of any "potential suspects" who may truly fit this particular "profile", onto this thread.

At Mr. Moose's last press conference at 5:00PM he said that they have Mr. Baker in custody on an auto theft charge and he is no longer a 'missing' person.

From WPBF -

Former N.C. Man Located, Not Considered Suspect

A former North Carolina resident who federal authorities had wanted to question about the string of fatal shootings in Montgomery County and D.C. is in police custody.

Moose said Robert Gene Baker III (pictured, left) was located in Fairfax County, Va., and was taken in to custody on an outstanding warrant for auto theft in Florida.

Moose says that Baker is still not considered a suspect in the shootings, but is being questioned. Moose did not elaborate on how or when Baker was taken into custody.

Despite an earlier ATF report that Baker was armed with a handgun and high-powered rifle, Moose said Baker did not have a weapon in his possession when he was taken into custody.

Earlier in the day, The Raleigh news and Observer reported that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had issued a bulletin for Baker, a former Raleigh resident. (pictured, right).

The bulletin described Baker as a drug user affiliated with various militia and white supremacist groups.

He was said to be traveling south in a white 2000 GMC van with dark lettering registered in Maryland.

The ATF said Baker's family members reported him missing on Monday. Moose said Baker's wife was the last to see him. The ATF report did not say where his family lives.

Well, I've used my considerable artistic talent to draw a composite based on all the available data and here's what I come up with:

As I said when someone posted an earlier version of this story on another thread, it's possible. The ATF and the FBI are fixated on White Supremacists, after having been brainwashed by clinton, but it's possible. There are a few such racist nut cases out there, as well as possible Islamic terrorists.

I'm curious as to what races the victims belong to. From the published names, two appear to be Hispanic, and one from India. If the other victims were black, that would tend to strengthen the possibility that the perp was a white racist. If they were white, then it's hard to see what the connection could be.

The only way this guy is going to get caught by the boob police in Md or DC is if somebody sees him and calls before he can get away

Read the article carefully, and you can see from where this linkage of Mr Baker with the Montgomery Co. shootings is coming from. This whole thing appears to have been started by the ATF! Where have we seen this before? Why at both Ruby Ridge, and Waco. The ATF has a history of "embellishing" the recorda, or alleged records of people thay are dealing with on a professional basis. This does NOT pass the smell test!

For that matter, why is the ATF (or even any other Federal agency, when push comes to shove) involved in a local missing persons case?

The paper said that the bulletin describes Baker as a drug user affiliated with various militia and white supremacist groups.

Media Bias Alert! How do they know this for a fact? Did they ask him?

The guy isn't even charged, much less tried or convicted, and the smearing begins.

Baker has been cleared.

Note how the working law-enforcement hypothesis has now gone from "two perps" to a "lone white nut" perp. While nothing can be ruled out, as yet I've heard of no evidence to support this hypothesis.

And it seems very unlikely that the person was operating alone. The obvious planning behind this highly non-random "random" attack on the civilian population (very consistent target selection - all close-to-sure-one-shot-kills except for the lucky Virginia lady; outside stationary targets who were civilian adults, tactical planning, etc.) suggests a level of organization, whether Al Qaida or something else. It does not suggest a drug-crazed lone lunatic, who would probably also attack children and authority figures in uniform. Al Qaida typically does not go public claiming credit for attacks, so the absence of a claim does not rule them out.

So an organized terrorist hypothesis should be considered. If you look at who benefits, that looms even larger. Even if Al Qaida had nothing to do with this, they had to have reaped a lot of success from it already. Now they know something we can't really respond to. And they know how to make the public afraid in a way they weren't before.

If one accepts the organized terrorist hypothesis for the sake of argument, one possible scenario now is that the whole thing will go quiet for a while (though with this much success, it will likely happen again, maybe somewhere else). After all, when the operational objective has been achieved, one folds up the tents and leaves. If that happens, there's little chance this shooter team will ever be caught by municipal law enforcement. They may even be out of the country by now.
