Website w/List of Actors/Entertainers to Boycott
10/4/02 | Jadge

Posted on 10/04/2002 12:59:11 PM PDT by Jadge

We live in a world where entertainers reach megastar status with the hard earned dollars of Republicans. In turn, they use their fame as a political platform to support our enemies.

Folks such as Alec Baldwin, Julia Roberts, Martin Sheen, Jessica Lange, Barbra Streisand, Rosie O'Donnell, Jon Bon Jovi, Cher, Leo DiCaprio, etc. have long shot their mouths off supporting liberal causes and liberal political candidates. It's time we show them that they cannot alienate half of their audience (i.e. Republicans) and continue to be successful.

For the most part, we know who these "stars" are, and I imagine most of us try to avoid patronizing their work. I want to go one better.

I am proposing a website that lists entertainers from all fields that support the left. It would contain information on their level of support, as well as all projects they are in, past and present. We will all make a pledge to steadfastly boycott their work, and encourage others to do so. Admittedly, it will be difficult, as many are great performers. But it is time we stood up for what we believe in.

If we can get more Republicans involved in the boycotting of their films/albums we can make a serious enough dent in their bottomline to stop these limosine liberals from using our money and support to destroy our ideals.

Let's create a site with a list of these offenders. Let's stick to our guns and boycott these offenders. Let's make offending us the equivalent to career suicide. Let's show these people that if they must open their uninformed mouths, they sure as hell better be supporting our causes.

Who is with me?

Cher sure is having a tough time so guess she has to make those political statements so she can get her publicity. It all comes down to that.

Well, look at the role she plays. First almost gets married to a dentist, then leaves him at the altar then picks up with Ross, then with the guy from Italy, then she wants Ross back and he's with someone else then she has a thing with joey and then gets pregnant and on and on with an irresponsible life. Granted I realize it is a SITCOM but still... so for her to call President Bush an idiot in that Valley Girl tone...well, will the REAL IDIOT please stand up?

I love when an "actress" or "actor" who knows nothing about what is going on makes an assinine statement like that. They sure make fools of themselves or they really don't care as long as they get the publicity for their interviews whether the interview comes off intelligent or not. Go figure.

I'm glad you mentioned Robert Altman, who said: "When I see an American flag flying, it's a joke." Obviously, he must not mind it too much. After declaring he'd move to Paris, France if Bush won the 2000 election, he backpeddled later when someone called him on it and said: "What I really said was that if Bush gets elected, I'll move to Paris, Texas, because the state will be better off if he's out of it."

I wish these creeps would keep their word and leave the country like they said they would.

Don't forget Madogga Madonna when she was defending Eminem during those ridculous Granny awards with Elton John. She said she was much more offended and frightened by what Bush had to say over cretin eminem. Also, don't forget her repulsive ex gal-pal Sandra Berhard who looks like she was clubbed over the head with an ugly stick.

James Woods is actually a liberal, but he happens to have ethics and isn't a hypocrite.

Also on the conservative side are Jonathan and Richard Jackson, two young actors who supported Bush for president.
Heather Locklear once stood in for Newt Gingrich for a Republican fundraiser.

The list is getting bigger...

There's an actor/comedian, first name Norm, who was on Saturday Night Live several years ago. He used to do the SNL "news," but was fired/replaced for some unknown reason.

He had a sitcom, "Norm," in which he played a hockey player sentenced to community service working in a social service (read, "welfare") agency. I loved that show, even before I knew the guy's politics. Once he went public, he disappeared.

Ok, time to play "Name That Person."

You're right. My memory is not that good at times. Sometimes it surprises you what people really believe. I understand Bo Derek and Kelsie Grammer are conservatives.

I forgot about Cameron Diaz. She's such an idiot, I wouldn't go see her films anyway.

Here's a better question. If the film stars a guy like James Woods (good) and Bruce Willis (good), do you see it if it also co-stars someone like Tim Robbins (bad) or Julia Roberts (bad)?

I say you have to. Does this ruin the plan?

As for the "bad guys" list, maybe you should have a "Most Notorious" list, too.

I love it! A boyott hall of fame starring the likes of:

-Alec Baldwin
-Julia Roberts
-Babs
-Tim Robbins
-Susan Sarandon

I don't know how conservative he was and I realize we are talking about the distant past now and he is long since passed away but Clark Gable was on the podium for the 1952 Republican Convention. At one time he was of course the King of Hollywood.

That would be comedian Norm Macdonald. I know he doesn't atone for Peter Jennings but he is from Canada and is funny. He made a notorious appearance on the View where he kept saying Clinton was a crook.

How's about an estimate of the miles and miles of audiotape, videotape, and film WASTED on these pricks?

I think I should point out that Rosie O'Donnell is a big fan of President Bush and was recently quoted as saying "I hate Bill Clinton." She may not be a hardcore conservative, but she's not the psychotic angry liberal she used to be. We should probably give her a break.

I understand what you're saying, but it doesn't bother me that performers disagree with what I believe in. That's part of what makes life interesting, that people disagree and publicly declare their disagreements.

My problem with them is not that they hold the opinions they hold, but that they use the unfair advantange of their unfettered access to the national media (which none of us will ever have) in order to spread their hate. If they'd just shut up about politics, or at least only respond when some dumb reporter puts them on the spot about a given politician or issue, I'd be fine with that. When they go on national television specificially to attack people that think like us, why should we reward them by giving them more money for mansions and crystal meth?

Norm Macdonald. He wasn't fired for an unknown reason, either. He was fired because he continuously made vicious OJ Simpson jokes every single week, even though the whole trial thing was already ancient history, and one of OJ's best friends happened to be Don Ohlmeyer, the president of NBC Entertainment. Ohlmeyer got sick of it and ordered Lorne Michaels to fire Norm from Weekend Update. And telling Lorne how to run SNL is just something that is not done, so it made Ohlmeyer look like just what he is - a giant prick - in front of the entire entertainment industry. Norm technically remained a cast member but after a few weeks he just decided the hell with it and quit.

Ohlmeyer eventually left NBC (I can't remember if it was his choice or if his own bosses just got sick of having him around) and he ended up producing Monday Night Football, and you can blame him for the whole Dennis Miller fiasco. Today, Ohlmeyer does ... nothing, as far as I know.
