Another DC-area sniper-style shooting
Wife (FReeper nina0113) | October 4, 2002 | Steve0113

Posted on 10/04/2002 12:02:50 PM PDT by Steve0113

Another broad-daylight shooting just occurred, this time in Fredericksburg, VA, just off I-95. It's not even on the news yet.

About an hour's drive south of where the Montgomery County shootings happened, a woman was shot in the parking lot of a Michaels fabric store. My wife was in the store at the time. The victim had left the store and carried her purchases to her minivan. She unlocked the minivan and was loading her stuff into it when she was shot. No sign of the shooter.

No one else was injured.

The woman was taken away in an ambulance, condition unknown. Her license plate (which I'm not going to post) indicated that she had several children.

Note that they are "former" profilers. It looks to me from that and from reading the article that they are simply familiar sources that the newspaper has interviewed before for this kind of story.

A well sighted in, scoped rifle, with some practice makes it easy to hit a human chest.

One team sets up with a rem700 in 222, takes 5 or 6 targets (we don't even know how many failed shots went unnoticed). Then they mosey on back to their suburban "good muslim" cover, and the news media provides the signal for the next group to begin on the next day, looking like a moving perp.

Could very well be. Unfortunately there are cells all across America. Which reminds me. I'm really surprised that something hasn't been tried with Mall of AMERICA.

Police in Virginia say weapon was not high-powered rifle-

(Fredericksburg-AP) -- Police say the weapon that wounded a woman outside a mall near Fredericksburg, Virginia, does NOT appear to have been a high-powered rifle like the one involved in a series of shootings in Montgomery County.

Spotsylvania County Police Captain Michael Timm says a woman was shot in the lower back as she loaded packages into her car.

Timm says the bullet passed through the woman's body, and police are looking for it.

No official word on the woman's condition.

The shooting occurred outside a Michaels crafts store at Spotsylvania Mall. The first incident in the Montgomery shootings was a shot fired through the window of a Michaels store.

Montgomery County police are sending investigators to the scene.

If the Islamists take it to our streets and neighborhoods as you surmise, they will live to rue that day.

This country, in places......is a tinderbox of reaction against this waiting to explode. Of course, they've already shown that they don't mind sending their own tribe to meet Allah as collateral damage as need be.

If this were terrs and it's proven then our PC leaders and the doofuss media will have a hard time containing a "reaction".

I am reminded of one of the original Mack Bolan books - he had a similar set up in a ford econoline van.

Actually with a little bit of practice, it wouldn't take that much skill. The shooter can get the shooting skill from some good range time, several months of practice should bring an average person up to speed. Keep in mind, the shooter is probably less than 300? meters from their target. Hitting a human sized target from that range would be relatively easy, consistently placing a round in a vital area would be more difficult.

Why isn't this on the news yet? Are they trying to prevent panic? I think the public has a right to know this.If I lived in the area I would want to know. All of you that do live around there please take care.

We don't need the news; we've got FreeRepublic! For local information, nothing beats a good scanner radio.

I'm hoping that these aren't the Al-Qaeda version of "Palestinian" homicide bombers.

I'm getting preliminary reports of a second shooting today....but they are from other BBS's....no media confirmation. Possible confusion with Michaels Parking Lot Shooting.

Um, I have only lived here a year, and the people of Seattle have not yet chosen to bestow upon me the title of "Lider Maximo" and therefore cannot simply choose representatives for the city or state.

Believe me, I wish it could be different, but it ain't.

The .223 rem. and the 5.56 Nato are used interchangeably

There is a difference.

ON Fox news this afternoon they mentioned a High Powered small calaber rifle, with possibly a silencer.

Yes. There are several bolt-action hunting handguns which are chambered in .223 (also known as 5.56mm).

Those guys picked up in Oregon received "Weapons Training" in Washougal, Wash. according to what I read. One was a USA soldier with an administrative discharge (recent??).

These hits sure look like "weapons training" goals activated by the capture of the Oregon cell. The Buffalo six case will be disposed of on the Oct 8th as far as bail goes.
