What has happened to U.S.?
Me | 10/2/2002 | Me

What has happened to our image as a beacon of freedom, opportunity and the right way to live?

Much of the world fears or hates us. We have a proclaimed policy of attacking any country whose policies or regimes don't follow our dictates.

Why have we become the biggest bully in the world?

I'd rather they feared us than laughed at us like did for 8 years while the Clinstones were in the White House.

OK, I live with that, how about a handshake and if the bar's still open, a longneck of your choice?

May be UnBlinkingEye was right, may be we can all just get along and love each other and never make war or say ugly things to each other ever again. /sarcasm

Beckett Post 105 is very "On" in reasoning?

Now before I go to bed I want to drop this thought Bomb on all of you...

Ask your self What would be the status of the mid-east right now if there was no oil to be found there?

What would be the status of Saddam, Bin Laden and the State of Israel?

Thanks for the Drink AzJP and see ya all around.

Maybe we can stop the lemmings going over the cliff by showing them a better way. Don't you think it might be possible that the power we possess could change the behavior of other nations without destroying them?

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

If we were really the biggest bully in the world, George Bush would be President of The United States of The World. There has not been a nation in human history which has held as much power and yet has been as considerate of the sovereignty of other nations.

Considering the stark contrast between our nation and our way of life and most of the other nations of the world, it is amazing that the number of conflicts we have become involved in have been so few.

Most would concede that in hindsight we have not always made the right decisions, but in light of the fact that our system provides us with leadership that is always changing between parties with vastly differing political viewpoints, I think we have done remarkably well and tempered our power with thoughtful and disciplined restraint.

Most of the world we must deal with has never even tasted the freedom we hold so very dear. When preserving that freedom requires exercising our power, we will always be accused of being a bully by some. But what one man calls a bully may be called a savior by another and we have been a savior to many.

Unless, of course, they are almost as big and strong as we are.

Are you referring to a country like the Soviet Union? Reagan started tightening the screws on them and they just dissolved away.

Most of our freedoms are being removed by the statist government and their disdain for the Constitution. Why support these criminals?

No, I'm referring to the fact that we only attack nations that cannot possibly respond in kind.
