"When is the registration deadline in New Jersey"?
What the he!! difference does it make now? In lieu of this current NJSC decision, there is no deadline. Same logic applies to this deadline as it does to any stinking deadline....right?
"Deadliinge....Deadliinge...We don't need no stinking Deadliinge"!
Screw the lawmakers, screw the people that elected them, screw the absentee voters that have already voted, screw EVERYBODY. The LAWYERS have spoken, and you will obey, or you will be beaten and thrown into prison. They are the Kings, we are the peasants, the surfs that they rule with THEIR rule of law.
We have GOT to do something about this crap!!!!
Honey....get me that big can of WUP-ASS and and my K-bar!!!

"Full Voter Choice" takes precedence over the 51-day rule. Court states that It is in public interest to preserve the two-party system (I expect LIB & GRN parties to blow a gasket on this one) He!!, I'm blowing a gasket. Since when does the "two-party" system usurp statutory law?

Yah. Hate to throw stones, but you prolly should have known that whenever there's a Dem candidate in trouble, ALL stops are pulled to save their asses. BAR NONE!
Why bother to have laws? 51 days doesn't mean anything. It was only implemented by the ELECTED representatives of the people of the state. Not important.
Nah. Don't take it personally. You'd think that of 2 Repubs up there, at least one would have said, "NO! NONONONONO! I WON'T go along with this travesty of justice, traditional unanimous decisions be damned!"
Godspeed

We CAN fight and will fight. But if your party can't get judges seated and doesn't regain control of the Senate to push through confirmations, it makes it all the more difficult. Bump-o-licious!
To: Peach
Well, SCOTUS better think hard on this one. Are you listening, SCOTUS? If they fail to act in a case this egregious, then the public will truly be left to the tender mercies of every sleazy pol with a roster of bought-and-paid-for judges at his beck and call. This country will be done in from within.

But if one party follows the law and the process that the party chooses to nominate a candidate for office who later drops out isn't that just that party's tough luck? Interesting point. But the Dems and Reps get special treatment in our "Two Party" system.
Imagine if a Libertarian, Constitutionalist, Green, etc. candidate dropped out like this. I don't think they would get these breaks.

My opinion:
Forrester should disavow any further appeals and begin blasting Lautenberg with attack ads right away. I assume that the Greens and Libertarians will still proceed with their appeals.

Think everyone of us in other States should use this example of the Clinton DemocRATs as a reason to vote Republican in November 2002!
We have the Rule of Law Republiclans and the rotting at the core, law breaking Clinton DemocRATS! -- that should be a no brainer in November!
DON'T DISPAIR, GET MOTIVATED! DONATE $20 TO THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN SENATORIAL COMMITTEE (WWW.NRSC.ORG)

No, an article in the Miami Herald two days ago proved that Florida voters do not blame Jeb Bush for the voting problems. More than 2/3rds of the voters blamed local election personnel and voters. The swamp Rats and their press accomplices keep blaming Jeb, but the only Florida voters falling for it are the same stupid voters that fell for the "Gore won" lies.

I agree, actually. Let's campaign!

Who did Torch defeat in the Dem primary? If we're going down this cockemamie road at all, shouldn't the #2 finisher in the primary get some consideration? Why does a committee get to pick, instead of the dem voters of NJ?

If the SCOTUS overturns this ( obscene ) ruling, it will result in a major stimulus to the great unwashed masses of the Democrats, just in time to mobilize them to vote. That won't be a problem if the SCOTUS decides the case after the November election. You have 30 days after a decision becomes final to file a petition for certiorari with the Supreme Court, and I think the Supreme Court has 90 days to decide whether to take the case. I don't know when this decision by the NJSC becomes final, but, if the Republicans wait for 30 days to appeal, it may be impossible for the SCOTUS to do anything before Election Day.
Then, if Forrester wins the election, the SCOTUS might reject the appeal as moot. But if Lautenberg wins, they might still take it. As a remedy, they could reverse the election and order the holding of a new, proper one.

Hi Jim,
So what the heck am I going to do, I got my absentee ballot already???? I wish Holdonnow was on this tread. I wonder if I could send in my ballot as is, as a protest and have it count????

People on this site knew this would happen. Oh we all hoped for the best, that these political hacks would follow the law. But inside all of us knew the fix was in after hearing these Justices (and I use that term loosely) ask questions of the Pubbie lawyers.
Many Banana Republics follow rules better than this. If this is allowed to stand, I will lose that last sliver of hope and respect I have for government. It is indeed a land of Power, greed, money and lawlessness.

More is at stake here then the corrupt senate seat of New Jersey. If the SCOTUS overturns this ( obscene ) ruling, it will result in a major stimulus to the great unwashed masses of the Democrats, just in time to mobilize them to vote. It will allow them to resurrect all their venom regarding the 2000 presidential race using the usual talking heads and their pet press yadda yadda yadda. Net result could be big gains in both houses for the Rats. I agree
To: ambrose
and begin blasting Lautenberg with attack ads right awayI agree. We should be playing reruns of Lautenburg explaining why he left the senate before and asking whats changed ?

Great quote--Sort of like the AMERICAN revolution. Someday it just might come to that in this country .
