ROTFLOL! 'Overheated' I would say so!!That is definitely not a difficult thing to do when consorting with the Southern Ladies of Sen. Lotts staff.
He may be a dealmaking wishy washy Majority Leader but I can see why he might be distracted easily in his office with the employees he keeps hiring..

LOL. That does go well with that photo posted above, doesn't it?!

Sex is the last thing I think about when I look at Strom. It's all relative. I was comparing Strom to Clinton, not Mel Gibson.

May we all be that 'dehydrated' when we are 63 days away from 100 years.
Looks like he is having the time of his life..
To: Eowyn-of-Rohan
Hate to say it but he kind of looks like an aged version of Bill Clinton. But then, so does Bill Clinton...

Congressman Lindsey Graham (R) is currently leading the race to fill Strom's seat.
We do have a dem governor that could appoint someone to fill Strom's seat. The regular election is one month away, I don't know how SC law would handle this.

LOL! 'Weekend at Stroms..'

Interesting you say that I did an FR search..and he did the exact same thing last year after his birthday party! Same exact date..
Trent Lott needs to cut out the partying in the Leaders office, or find Hillary's staff to greet him happy b-day (on second thought that might not be such a good idea)

Maybe I nodded momentarily at my desk and dreamed that report.I think that is what Strom Thurmond did and the Democrats got so excited thinking he had kicked the bucket.

All is not lost. You created an interesting thread. A lot of us got thinking about Strom Thurmond, again... On the whole, it's been a more interesting Wednesday afternoon.

OK, for Robert KKK Byrd fans: I read over at NRO's The Corner, that Byrd went to the well of the Senate, pointed out that the Senate had passed zero appropriations bills and whined that that was the worst record for the Senate since 1987.
(wait for it, it's worth it)
Who was Majority Leader in 1987? Yup, Robert KKK Byrd. Whooo-Yaa!

Strom Thurmond trivia: In what year did Strom run for the United States presidency?
.
.
.
.
.
.
Answer: Stom Thurmond was the presidential candidate for the State's Rights party in 1948 and got 39 Electorial votes with 2.4% of the popular vote.
To: dead
I think Strom Thurmond should reconsider his not running and say that he decided to remain on the ballot so that if he should pass on,
(God Forbid)
then he can prevent the (D)-Govenor from appointing a (D)-replacement. They're doing it in Hawaii, and they did it in the past in MO. Then they can have a special election and have one of his (R)-relatives run for his senate seat who would be elected overwhelmingly out of sympathy.
P.S. Change your name.

". . .but also because the governor of S.C. is a Democrat and would likely appoint same to fill out Strom's term, should the need arise."
Indeed, when Republican Senator, Paul Coverdale died, we got the same. Repubs lucked out, as best we could, with the apointment of former retired Democrat Governor, now Senator Zell Miller.
Think there is only one Zell, however.
This is not good - we need Repubs desperately. . .
I know! Lets change out some losing candidates!

And Strom cast his first politcal vote at the 1932 Convention as a young man!
Incredible, he was also elected to Senate as a write in candidate in 1954 (the first ever for major office this way) and recieved votes early in his State Representative career from Civil War veterans

Great idea!
To: demlosers
And Strom got the third highest electoral total ever for an independent candidate!
