Strom Thurmond trivia: In what year did Strom run for the United States presidency?

Answer: Stom Thurmond was the presidential candidate for the State's Rights party in 1948 and got 39 Electorial votes with 2.4% of the popular vote.

And Strom cast his first politcal vote at the 1932 Convention as a young man!

Incredible, he was also elected to Senate as a write in candidate in 1954 (the first ever for major office this way) and recieved votes early in his State Representative career from Civil War veterans
