A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 10/1/02

President Bush met with congressional leaders today to asks that they pass the Terrorism Insurance Agreement by Friday. Bush stressed the need to pass the measure so that 300,000 people could get back to work on $15.5 billion worth of projects that are on hold because of no insurance. The President also made it crystal clear that although an Iraqi inspection agreement is a step in the right direction, the Biden/Lugar resolution is just not strong enough. Meanwhile, First Lady Laura Bush was in Florida today to help promote reading. This evening, she is attending a fund-raiser for her brother-in-law, Jeb. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

The President looks a little tired to me tonight. He does look tired. On the news tonight the dark circles under his eyes were very prominent. Is the hurricane tracking towards you?

Education! When schools started accepting federal money, the local schools lost their right to make decisions for what is best for their own community .... and a very long slippery slope to the present farce that is our education system began. We now have people so dumbed down that there are college graduates who think that George Washington fought in World War II and that Germany was our ally .... people who think that New Mexico is a foreign country ..... graduates who can't read, write, spell, add or subtract, but who know all about diversity. I could go on and on but that should give you some ideas to work with.
Also political correctness is another example of a slippery slope ...... it's about to get to the point that half of the English language is now taboo.

Eroded rights:
Smokers lost their right to smoke in their offices, restaurants, bars, and in some cases (parental custody cases) their own homes.
Employers in some cases have lost the right to hire and fire based on merit.
Tomorrow we will see if New Jersey voters lost their right to a fair election.

How about the whole fiasco with our borders ..... they used to have to learn to SPEAK ENGLISH, PROVE they had jobs or other means, etc. now, if you can just streak in, you're in for good. (And, get medical services, education, etc.)

That's terrific! W is definitely the cowboy in the white hat. I'm old enough to have spent many Sat afternoons watching the cowboy movies where the white hat/black hat was an important clue! :-)

A post from the FReepathon thread I think you will all enjoy ....... :-)
Here's why Free Republic is important:
Today, on my drive home from work, having been cut off from the world all day, I was listening intently to Hugh Hewitt's talk show. He spoke about the Torrecelli situation and how the New Jersey Democrats managed to get the court to not only hear the case but then to jump the case to the New Jersey Supreme Court, curiously skipping any appellate or district courts. He stated the law was meant to move slowly and said it would be interesting to see if the New Jersey Supreme Court was as corrupt as Florida's.
Hugh mentions Free Republic a LOT and he made no exception today. After his reasoned discourse, he said, "I'd like to thank Howlin for putting up the post citing the case of Tomasin v. Quinn where a candidate for county sheriff withdrew, and another man wanted to take his place on the ballot. (The court refused.)"
Hugh apparently had read an article citing this case, but had missed it. Howlin's post brought it to his attention.
Note: Howlin posted this for the Freeper named Dog.
Millions of people heard Hugh today. Tens of thousands read Free Republic today.
This site is important, your comments are valuable. Your support is necessary to carry on.
Thank you Freepers! Thank you Howlin! Thank you Dog! Thank you Free Republic!

I'm late getting here, but txrangerette correctly identified my congressman, Mike Oxley. He's a solid Conservative good guy, and he's worked with the President on several bills.
If I play my cards right, I'm going to meet the President through this man! :o) (He looks a bit too serious here!

Hey MM! How many martinis today? I'm drinking beer as I type.
