ANTI-FLAG
ME
Posted on 09/30/2002 7:44:20 AM PDT by MotleyGirl70
Sunday morning I woke and went to Micky Ds to get my husband a big breakfast and some other kind of breakfast food (I bought myself a large coffee).
As I waited in line behind 100,000,000 other people I looked to my left and saw three boys; Id say they couldnt have been older than 16 years old. Description of said white punks listed below:
Boy 1: Frizzed out hair, John Lennon glasses and a jacket that was infested with pins and patches. One of those patches read: Anti-Flag. (this set me off)
Boy 2: Blue hair, chubby and he had a top hat on.
Boy 3: Lets just say my cat craps bigger stool than this little twerp.
So as I was waiting in line I asked Boy 1; Whats up with that patch, Anti-Flag?
He said; Its a band.
I said Are you anti-American?
The punk said; Yes
I said Why?
To which he said: Vietnam, WWI and WWII did us no good. America kills the innocent.
At this point my blood is boiling and Im ready to punch this punk in the face and my food order is soon to be picked up.
I said; I dont give a shit what you think. When you get a job; and start paying taxes and contribute something to society your opinion doesnt mean shit. So take your 60s peace mentality and shove it up your ass. If you three represent the future of America, it scares me, it scares me very much. You want to want to be anti-American, go tell your b.s. to a United States veteran who fought for the very freedom you have. (
.I wanted to go on but I had to pick up my order and leave. I got a nod from some guy waiting in line in agreement with my confrontation with this kid.)
At that point I picked up my order, they left and I made my exit.
Is this the future of America? Anti-Flag?

So you are an isolationist. Nothing wrong with that, and actually it has it's advantages, I've thought alot about it. But I'm not sure the founding fathers would puke to know that we have troops stationed all over the globe. I think that they would want us to protect freedom, and to help all those attain it who wish to have it. I know that's a little far fetched, but what was more important to them than anything? FREEDOM, for all men, freedom from tyranny no matter where it is!
Now, let me give you my personal opinion. I say we tell every country that they can be with us if they want. If a country (the people) tells us to buzz of (like in South Korea), then we take our 50000 troops and we leave. But if they say yes (maybe in Iraq for instance), then we go over there and make it a state. That way we're giving freedom, and actually gaining something for our effort. i.e. the land and raw materials within. Every place would be better off if they said yes.

So you are an isolationist. Not at all.
I advocate free market economics, unrestricted by state.
And freedom of association for all men.
I simply reject military adventurism.
Defense is defense, and is reasonable and moral. (but it has nothing to do with this thing we are doing).

as I have for the misguided silliness of people calling themselves "conservatives" while craving war,I support war with Iraq and resent the implication that that means I crave war. I have a fifteen year old son, I do not crave bloodshed. Although people like to dance around the issue, the Arab world declared war on us on September 11th. If we wish to retain our freedoms and prevent becoming an Islamic state we must defend ourselves in this war they have declared.

Do you truly believe that serving men and women right now DO NOT want to go over to Iraq? I think you're sadly mistaken. They KNOW body bags will go with them, and sadly many more will be used by the time they leave, but they accept this.
And of the enemy non-combatents, well, if everything goes as planned, in a few years their lives will be way better than they are now.
And I truly believe, that our milataries work over there will NOT be in vain. And you will not see me, nor my children EVER bagging on the work they are about to do. I will not spit on my countrymen for doing what this great country asks of them.

I've had it! I'm usually a soft spoken person with a healthy sense of humor, but I just couldn't stand seeing such a patch. I can relate.
One time my (former) wife and I were sitting in her parents' living room, talking with her younger sister and a couple of the sister's friends.
They were boasting about shop-lifting from the local Safeway.
I listened for a while, then I exploded.

No... I mean it quite literally. That is interesting.
Perhaps we'll discuss it some time.
I look forward to it. Let me know.

I support war with Iraq and resent the implication that that means I crave war. Perhaps you inadvertently lumped yourself in with the "Nuke the Ragheads"... "War, War, War"... "the only good arab is a dead arab" crowd.
It was them I was addressing.

"the only good arab is a dead one.... ect. ect."
If the arab is yelling "death to Americans" then what good is he? If he points a gun at your head, isn't he better dead? We're not talking about the non-violent ones, but sadly, those are few and far between over there.

I'm discussing whether or not it is moral for us to engage in military adventurism all over the globe.
I don't think I brought Iraq into the conversation at all.

Take boy 1, put a suit on him, season him a little bit, give him an education at an ivy league college, and you have
Al Gore, boy 2 would be Bill Clinton, boy 3 would Robert Reich.
To: The Other Harry
They were boasting about shop-lifting from the local Safeway. Don't you know it's ok to steal depending on who you are stealing from? Silly boy.
It says volumes about their parents that they would be willing to discuss it in front of you with no embarrassment.

"I don't think I brought Iraq into the conversation at all."
True, my mistake. I just grew up around alot of this hate-America crowd, and it just drives me up the wall, so now I'm getting all worked up.
I do believe that you are a true freedom loving man, I just think your being a little hard on our country. After all it is the closest we have to freedom on the planet. Not perfect by any means, but pretty darn close.

Is this the future of America? Anti-Flag? No. It is not. This is:

Al Gore, boy 2 would be Bill Clinton, boy 3 would Robert Reich. I'll bet at least one of them turns out OK. Maybe all of them. The teen years are all about conforming, going along to get along. And nonconforming is the biggest type of conforming in that age group.
Orange and purple hair, piercings, bad clothing, all the new things,,which are really old. Rebellion against the norm is the norm for teens. The lady/girl who wrote this story fell right into their trap and gave them exactly what they wanted. They only thing they can't stand is to be ignored.
