au revoir mon cher Angelique
A heavy heart

au revoir mon cher AngeliqueI have the truly sad and unenviable task of reporting the loss of a gentle lamb, and fierce patriot, our own dear girl, Angelique.
Simple words cannot express the profound loss I feel. To say I have lost one of my closest and dearest friends would be to betray my own feelings, I adored this girl. Her warm sweet childlike voice, contrasted with her signature feisty repartee, and unbridled humor made her a one-of-a-kind treasure. Her combative defense of her deeply held convictions, crossed many a sword with the best of her friends including yours truly, and her few if any enemies. She was a model Mother, daughter, sister, friend, patriotic American, Franco-American and staunch defender of the principals of a Free Republic, and above all FreeRepublic itself. Angelique said what she believed, with straight talk, a savvy humor and wit, but at times with a velvet sledgehammer ....tears, that was our darling French pastry.
Pray for our sweet girl, as I will, in hopes that she has found comfort and peace in His waiting arms.
pour toujours, mon cher Angel, with love......... Carlo

Damn....I am so sorry to hear this.
She will be missed.
I enjoyed my exchanges with her, and she had a sense of humor that matched her strength of conviction in her principles.
Sad Regards....

Angelique would have me wipe away your tears - say something in French to you - (although she knew my phrases are extremely limited..:)) - make you laugh, which was her gift to us - and give you a grateful hug from her......
Consider I have complied and it is done ~ ~ ~ ~

Profoundly sorry to be hearing of this developement.
The upside to this is that sweet Angelique now resides in His loving Kingdom for all eternity.
Make no mistake about that.
...rejoice for her having made the grade.

She would have made the Queen look plain
When, as night drew on,
She passed on the bridge at Toledo
In her black bodice.
A rosary from the time of Charlemagne
Hung about her neck.
The wind which blows over the mountain
Will drive me mad!---V. Hugo
Who art thou, proud God?
What arm throws towers beneath the grass
And changes purple to vile rags?...
What unseen hand
Holds the keys to the tomb?
---V. Hugo

Yes, dear christie, we will remember the good times.
Have you told someone you love them today? Don't wait, Don't let them slip away Without letting them know They're in your heart to stay!Have you told someone you love them today? You may not have another chance... |
Excuse me...I have to go call my son...Love you all!

Lowie, our Angelique is gone. Thank you for the "Al Gore Taco bell dog" Graphic. Oh my how she loved that graphic. She would just laugh and laugh at the site of the picture.Yeah, I remember, the Gore dog picture was her favorite. Thanks for the reminder.

Ok! As promised yesterday, above, I've finally made my first contribution which amounts to the biblical "widow's mite" to FR in honor of our departed FRiend... Angelique.
I put in a comment, but I don't know if that ever shows up somewhere where FReepers can see it. It's not really important as her name is being entered on "the wall" of what she might call phormer phreepers in banter with Phil V.
Sure would be nice if it was the Universe Wide Web rather than just the World Wide Web so we could tell her how we really feel!!!

This is terrible news. Just terrible. :(

Here is Angelique's favorite recipe:
Shrimp Vermicelli
With Basil Cream Sauce
The sauce should be made one or two days ahead of time.
Basil sauce:
1/3 cup white wine vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/2 cup tightly packed fresh basil leaves
2 garlic cloves
1 cup sour cream
3/4 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons fresh parsley
Salt and a dash of white pepper
1 (16-oz.) package vermicelli, cooked al dente and cooled
6 green onions, chopped (include part of greens)
2 stalks of celery, finely chopped
1 lb. salad shrimp
Mix the sauce ingredients in a blender until smooth. Refrigerate the sauce for one or two days. Pour half of the Basil sauce in a bowl. Add the vermicelli, green onions, celery, and shrimp, and then the remaining sauce. Toss gently. Chill well before serving.
If you are serving this as a luncheon entree, you can add thin fresh asparagus, and even substitute baby scallops for the shrimp.

Thanks, christie. I will prepare this dish in memory of her.

She is probably whipping this up for the angels right now.
Her appreciation of freeper humor is shown in her selections for the margins of the freeper cookbook. We surely need to publish this work now, if we didn't need to before.
Condolences to you, christie and carlo3b. I am very sad at the passing of the fine person.
To: carlo3b
I am so sorry for you. My condoleances.

She made me smile in a world that breaks my heart. That is the best solution I've heard that begins to sum up my feelings... Think of our Angelique, and smile.... :)

Such sad, sad news. My Thoughts and Prayers are with Angelique and with her family and friends Over a year ago Angelique posted this poem in memory of another Freeper who passed away. I had corresponded with Angelique and Thanked her for posting this poem. Today I am posting this for you Angelique, Rest In Peace.
God Bless
A ship sets sail in the morning breeze to start for the blue ocean. She is the object of beauty and strength. We watch until she sails away, until at length she hangs like a white cloud just where the sky and ocean come down to mingle with each other. Then someone says, "There, she is gone." Gone from our sight...that is all. She is as large in hull and mast and spar as she was when she left the shore; Her diminished size is in us, not her- At the moment we say, "There, she is gone," other eyes are watching for her coming, and other glad voices are ready to take up the shout, "There she comes." That is dying........
Your Freeper Friend,
Colleen
