A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer |

Wow! Thanks for the cool link! Missouri FReepers appreciate your support. I don't know how to do that kind of linking yet, so this is great. The more exposure, the better.

Thank you.
I'm pretty new to FreeRepublic, but I know some HTML from other places.
I was just looking at the Support the Troops stories. This looks like a place that would like to know about the rallys.
To: tmprincesa
Yep - this thread is about getting to know other freepers better by spotlighing different individuals, or couples, or FReeper Chapters during the week, and then kicking back on the weekends so the hostesses can prepare for the coming week.
Don't be a stranger - one day it will be your turn. ;-)

Hi all!
Sorry I haven't kept in touch better. There is so much to do before surgery -- I may pull my hair out before Dr. Rosner needs to shave it off! **grin?** I need to be up and packing things this very minute (just for Cinti, to see the pain management doctor, this time), but my head is splitting, I have a tummyache, and I just plain don't feel like it!
I found someone in Asheville who is trained in Therapeutic Touch therapy, and she is going to help me control my nerves, my pain, and all kinds of good stuff before, during, and after my surgery. My mother will probably make a scary face at her presence, but mother dear will just have to get over it. I've had TT performed on me many times, it works, it calms me down, I like it, and I refuse to go without a TT Practitioner during this next surgery! Period! ;-}
Well, I do have a lot to do -- I hate to "post and run," but I'm afraid it's necessary. Please think of me, and send any spare prayers and good wishes my way? We're in "Countdown Mode." (OIKS!)
Love ya,
Beep

Afternoon ALL, another beautiful day here in Memphis. It's a day to kick back and enjoy some music. Hubby is snoozing along with Rocky and I have the computer all to myself.

Wow ! Parasailing, huh? That's the parachute pulled by a boat, right? Now
THAT sounds like fun !!

Wow ! Parasailing, huh? That's the parachute pulled by a boat, right? Now THAT sounds like fun !! Yep, that's what I'm thinking. They have parasailing in every cruise ship port along the coast of Mexico. Last trip there, I came real close to trying it.......I'm hoping this time I can get a little more courage up and actually DO it. It does look like so much fun. And, the people that I watched never even got their feet wet.

Well, I do have a lot to do -- I hate to "post and run," but I'm afraid it's necessary. We certainly understand, Beep. I was thinking about you this morning and wondering how you were doing. Thanks for coming and posting to us.
I will definitely add you to my prayer list. Please know that you have many people thinking of you and wishing you well. As soon as you can manage, let us hear from you......okay?
To: tmprincesa
We are so glad you came by, and thank you for posting those links to the rallies going on around the country. I see that lodwick did a great job explaining what our thread is about. I would like to add that we also very much support our military and our President and everyone who takes a stand for freedom and liberty. Military posts are always welcome here. The welcome mat is always out on the Finest Thread......
To: Mama_Bear
If I were going to a place that had that, I don't think anyone would have to pursuade me. Let me know how it is if you decide to try it......
To: BeforeISleep
Thanks for the ping MamaBear. Hope you're having a nice day! I am having a wonderful day, thank you. I have gotten absolutely nothing done today..........just the kind of Sunday I like. :-)

What an experience. You will soar up to 600 ft. You experience sightseeing from a new perspective!
I concurr - Mrs. lodwick and I parasailed during our honeymoon in Mazatlan - what a rush. The sails have only become better in the past 24 years. 600 feet up - yikes!

600 feet up - yikes! Yikes is right! See, now that is what prevented me from going the last time. LOL. But, when I got home, I was so sorry I chickened out.
Well, I will have three chances to do it. If I don't get up the courage in Puerto Vallarta, maybe I will by the time we get to Mazatlan or Cabo. I wonder if a couple of Margaritas at Senor Frogs would help? LOL!
If I can get my son to go up with me, I will definitely do it. (No point in asking my husband, there is no way he is doing anything like that. LOL.)
To: ValerieUSA
Hi Valerie. Thanks for another nice photograph.
I will be posting a sunrise tomorrow that my husband took. One of his few scenic photographs. I wish he could get out of the studio more often and do something other than portraiture. He loves photographing nature and barns and flowers, but there is never enough time for it.

You might be po'white trash if....
1) You think "loading the dishwasher" means getting your wife drunk
2) The Salvation Army declines your mattress.
3) You were shooting pool when any of your children were born.
4) Your school fight song was "Dueling Banjos."
5) Your wife has ever said, "Come move this transmission so I can take a bath."
6) You've ever given rat traps as gifts.
7) You clean your fingernails with a stick.
8) You've ever hit a deer with your car, deliberately.
9) Your mother has "ammo" on her Christmas list.
10) You keep a can of RAID on your kitchen table.
More to follow...

Bless you and all the Missouri patriots for your dedication. You are doing a great job out there!

If I'm remembering correctly, and that a ways back, you have hand signals to let the operator know if you wish to go higher and higher - I'm not sure if cocktails before flying is the right thing to be doing. But however you parasail, you will love it. ;-)
