A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Presenting.......
One of FR's Finest
RedWing9
Freeper since June 15, 1999
RedWing9 told us he began his posting career during the spring of 1999 (after finding FR from Drudge in September of 1998), when he couldn't take reading the Y2k bunker propaganda anymore. He said he just had to sign up and contradict what he considered misleading and dangerous posts. From then on, he couldn't resist getting in the middle of other threads and making sure his point was heard. Something his wife will attest to!
RedWing9 -- RW9 for short -- was born in 1966, in a little town called Farmington, MI. After spending 31 years in the Detroit area, he moved to the Chicago area to court and marry his wife. He has worked in the computer industry since his sophmore year in college, learning everything from COBOL programming, to mainframe operations, to network design. On January 15, 2001, he was blessed with a handsome baby boy which they named Preston, making his life even busier AND better! PRESTON even has his own website. :)
At home in Chicago, RW9 leads the Chicagoland Chapter as President, following in the footsteps of the original Chicagoland Chapter leader, diotima. The Chicagoland Chapter is not unlike many FR chapters: a large membership with a few activists. But nonetheless, the task at hand is enjoyable. He also takes the time to volunteer at church, currently redesigning the school's computer room.
Protesting tax day during sleeting weather! TheRightGuy, RW9, diotima, March I up
RW9 wants to make sure everyone knows, his moniker is not an effigy to Gordy Howe, but rather the 9 represents the month of his birth!
As you may have guessed, RW9 is a big Detroit Red Wings fan, and since moving to Chicago, he's not only a Conservative in a Leftist State, but a Wings fan in the land of Black Hawks.
If you are wondering why you might not see him posting a lot, he said there's a good reason for that. RW9 said he just doesn't feel the need to post an opinion twice. If another FReeper was faster on the draw with what he intended to say, he's content to be silent.
RW9 being interviewed by CBS affiliate during City Year Clinton Freep
It's a pleasure to present another of FR's Finest! Today that Finest is RedWing9!
Thank you, RW9, for stepping into our spotlight!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer |

How could you have possibly gotten into trouble with your Hooligan twin away?
I thought the excuse was 'Amy made me do it!' Well, now that you mention it.... it IS your fault!
What kind of twin are you? Leaving me here to defend myself against a pack of huggy women.: (
I may be in trouble, but ohhhhh what fun! LOL

Two boys are playing football in Central Park when one is attacked by a rabid rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy rips a board off of a nearby fence, wedges it down the dog's collar and twists, breaking the dog's neck.
A reporter strolling by sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy.
"Young Giants Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he writes in his notebook.
"But I'm not a Giants fan," the little hero replies.
"Sorry, since we are in New York, I just assumed you were," says the reporter.
"Little Jets Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook.
"I'm not a Jets fan either," the boy says.
"I assumed everyone in New York was either for the Giants or Jets. What team do you root for?" the reporter asks.
"I'm a Cowboys fan," the child says.
The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes, ... "Little Redneck Maniac Kills Beloved Family Pet".

Our dear Angel Wolf claims he can smell gardenias when I'm on a thread.....LOL
However he didn't react until I flagged him...so maybe his unusually keen olfactory skills are weakening???
To: ST.LOUIE1
Yeah ...... I didn't come to your rescue because you would never have forgiven me.

WHY MEN ARE NOT SECRETARIES
Husband's note on refrigerator to wife:
Someone from the Guyna Colleges called. They said the Pabst Beer
is normal. I didn't know you liked beer??

Bill goes into a bar to have a drink. Sitting next to him at the bar, is a man who is quite intoxicated. The next thing he knows, the drunken man falls off of his bar stool. Bill picks him up and puts him back on the bar stool. Again the man hits the floor. This time he picks the guy up, and asks, "where do you live?" Bill picks the guy up and takes him to his car and drives him home.
When they get to the guys house, he gets the guy out of the car, and tries to help him to the house, but the man hits the ground again, and just keeps falling each time he is helped up. Finally they reach the front door.
Bill rings the doorbell, and when the wife opens the door Bill says "hello, I've brought your husband home". The wife looks at Bill and asks " Where is his wheel chair?"
Looks like Amy has not come back!
