A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

SOME OF FR'S FINEST PROFILE PAGES #3
Many Freepers have taken advantage of the opportunity to create a Profile Page. The results of these creations are often illuminating, humorous, inspirational, artistic or biographic, just to mention a few descriptive words.
Below are some randomly selected Finest FR Profile Pages. There are, of course, many other Finest Free FR Profile Pages worthy of featuring, and we hope to do some of them in the future, perhaps on a regular basis. If you have a Profile Page you would like to share, or if you come across a Profile Page that you want to bring to our attention, you know the drill - freepmail Billie, Mama_Bear or myself.
In the meantime, take a look at Some of FR Finest Profile Pages #3
Grimalkin's Profile Page is a treat inself with vintage photos and quotes of Churchill, Reagan and Patton. But there is more here! She has a link on her Profile Page to her Home Page which is spectacular. It is very well organized and includes a variety of topics. You simply MUST visit this Profile Page and linking Home Page.
She Lion is an advocate of Protecting the Right of the Choice to Smoke. She is, in fact, President of Forces Maine (Fight Ordinances and Restrictions to Control and Eliminate Smoking). Her Profile Page, Home Page and Bookmarks reflect her activities in this area and contain must read material for all who are interested in protecting this right.
MeeknMing was profiled previously as One of FR's Finest. However, his Profile Page has gone an extensive makeover since that time. He has acquired many new graphic skills and has used these new found skills to spiff up his Profile Page and create a linking Web Page. His love of his family, his country and Texas shines through on all of the above.
Martian_22 lists "backyard astronomy" as one of his interests, and on his Profile Page he has included a link to an Astonomy Picture of the Day with instructions to check out the Archives. Wow! You will find the astronomy photographs very interesting. Unless of course you are into astronomy, in which case you will find them fascinating!
Deadhead's Profile Page is in Loving Memory of her Dad who served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the LST 568. A brief history of the LST 568 and a photograph of the Bronze Sculpture that was dedicated to the men of the LST568 in Washington DC. at the Navy Memorial are included.
JulieRNR21's Profile Page is composed of beautiful patriotic gifs and graphics. You'll see the "Louie touch" (St. Louie1) in this one, and indeed he is acknowledged as helping put this together, but the personality and patriotism of Julie shine through. You'll like this one and will feel upbeat after viewing it.

You can find this by clicking on your name in any thread that you posted or at the top right of any forum next to where it says My Mail and My Comments. If you go in that way you will then have to click on the link that says my profile and the date you joined will be at the top.
2) Next go to http://www.calendars.net:8194/fr_aniver
3) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.

Caribou are really not afraid of man, Aqua, most never having seen one.
It was common when the guys hunted to see herds of 10,000 on the move, and if some were downed for meat (and a lot of the servicemen hunted FOR meat - by law you cannot kill them without taking them with you) the others would mill around and look over their shoulder:
"Whatcha doin' Mister? Huh??"
One funny story was when a fellow with an orange jacket was hunting with other men and somehow ended up in the middle of a giant circle of caribou.
Someone on the perimeter got nervous and fired, so all the men did, wanting to down one before they fled.
When the shots ceased, the man with the orange jacket in the center stood up, miraculously having survived the barrage, and yelled, pointing to a dead one at his feet:
"I'm claiming this one at my feet, and none of you SOB's had better challenge the fact I must have shot it!!"
Of course, no one did!

The grizzly-killin' weapon I fired in Alaska was a 400 H&H Magnum with scope.

That is a very pretty signature image. It looks like rain drops falling on those petals. :-)
Good night, Aqua. See you tomorrow.
