S.A. Woman Charged $32 For Opinion
Fax Company Profits From Controversy

SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio woman was recently charged $32.45 for her opinion on a hot topic.
Susan Lyman-Krom (pictured, left) said she decided to respond to a poll from an unsolicited fax whether the phrase "One nation under God" should be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance.
"I felt strongly about that question," Lyman-Krom said in an interview with KSAT 12 News.
After writing down her vote, Lyman-Krom faxed her opinion to a 900 number.
According to the fax, calls cost $2.95 a minute. The average fax takes about two minutes in standard mode, the fax stated.
"We figured it would cost $6," Lyman-Krom said.
But when Lyman-Krom received her bill, she said she was shocked to see that she was charged $32.45 for an 11-minute fax by Right2Vote Limited, a Canadian company.
"I think it's a scam," Lyman-Krom added. "I think its a way to hit a nerve with the general public on a heated issue. They are turning right around and collecting all this money on a phone call."
Lyman-Krom said that AT&T told her that the 900 number she called belonged to British Fax Directory.
British Fax Directory is a subsidiary of 21st Century Fax, a London-based company that was fined $1 million by the Federal Communications Commission for junk faxes.
KSAT 12 News tried to contact Right2Vote, but there was no telephone number listed. A phone number to remove a fax machine from the company's list was constantly busy.

Just in case you're series about the Troops knitting thing, this is the thread
(USO Canteen, FReeper Style) you need to look at. I can assure you that you will find safety from blonde jokes from all the posters there.

Where you been, you old dog? : ) I was driven off by the "real" conservatives here... you know, the Cultural Jihads, and the Kevin Currys... :)
So I come back to find they recruited a dim wit blonde into their corps? Yikes!

I beg to differ... sewer rats are compelled to become lawyersIf you think lawyers are bad, you ought to see their clients.

Okay, well you people know how I feel about being insulted by your "dumb blonde" jokes. I have been an avid fan of Free Republic for a couple years now but I guess it's time I find a new hang out. I thought I had something in common with you people because I am a life-long conservative but apparently not. Before I say good-bye can I ask you if any of you have young blonde daughters? Would you like it if they were constantly offended and poked fun of like you are doing to me on this thread?
Don't short change us on the obligatory kick a** Opus Post, the last one I saw was pretty weak so I'll be holding you to high standards.
OTOH you could take Currys advice and stick around, just put on the asbestos before carping :)

"Please stick around......"
Well said (the entire statement) and I agree. Hang around a while RepublicanHippy - life is good here!

Me too Diddle - I've enjoyed both brunet and blond men in my younger years! Blond jokes are just fun because blonds have been 'advertised' to have more fun! It's just a little bring them back to earth jokes for the most part.

anyone who seriously considers a lawsuit over a blonde joke is likely not much of a 'conservative'.

"I went to church some years ago with a young lady(early-20's) who had the most strikingly beautiful silvery hair."
Was her name Coulter? Did she, herself, tell blonde jokes?
To: Diddle E. Squat
I always thought she was a transvestite (probably spelled wrong). What ever happened to her anyhow?

I was driven off by the "real" conservatives here . . .LOL!
See what I mean, RepublicanHippy? Pipsqueaks. Nervous, scared, yippy little pipsqueaks.
When they can't run with the big dogs, they go to DU or LP.

I beg to differ... sewer rats are compelled to become lawyers... Notice how I can shrug that off with a chuckle. soft chuckle

Hey....at least she can knit, apparently. Kudos to her. However, I'm getting the feeling she'll want signed affadavits that the recipient of her knitting has never made, uttered, or even listened to a blonde joke. Otherwise, "no scarf for you!....NEXT!"

Too bad you were raised to accept your lot in life. Chances are you are not a real blonde eh thunderthighs?
To: RepublicanHippy
Lets see, I am blond, my daughter is blond... she is grown now... but we have exchanged and laughed at blond jokes for years. Many times when we did things, as everyone has, that were a little on the duh side, we just joked about it being a blond thing. We have many "tears running down our face" laughs of this sort. It was cleansing in a way, to blame doing a dumb thing on something rediculous... like hair color, instead of taking it seriously and feeling uncomfortable.
Are we dumb? No, not on your life... do we have a sense of humor and can laugh at ourselves... you betcha!
I'm sorry that you are offended... and I do hope that somehow you are giving us all a good ribbing. Maybe its just a blond thing....
