Man in terror scare says woman is lying

NAPLES, Florida (CNN) --The Georgia woman who prompted Friday's terror scare was "flat-out lying" when she told authorities she overheard three Muslim men at a restaurant laughing about September 11 and making suspicious comments, one of the men said late Friday.

Some people are particularly sensitive to the smell of the mercaptans that the gas company puts into the natural gas.

I'm one of 'em too.

I drove the gas company nuts because I kept calling them smelling gas near the meter. They used the "sniffer" and put soap solution on all the pipe joints. Nothing.

I continued to complain, and finally they shut off the gas and found that it was the METER that was leaking through a small crack. They replaced it, and no more problem.

My feeling about this one is that the woman is telling the truth. The fact that she didn't exaggerate, the small corroborating circumstances (like the Chicago connection and the conversation with her son), and just her general air. The only question is whether PC insanity and embarassment is going to cause her to take the fall.

These three idiots ought to be falling all over themselves apologizing for their inappropriate behavior (a big blond German joking about Auschwitz in a synagogue is the best analogy I've heard all day) instead of playing the race/religion card and whining about how put upon they are.

But as to the first two...the plates may not have been stolen, but there WAS, in fact, a mistmatch on the plates and the make of the car. The plates had not been properly transferred.

Second, the dogs may have alerted to traces of explosives, or to nitrates in the medical bag. I don't for a minute believe that the use of dogs was a sham.

The "laptop guy" you used as an example as a false pickup by dogs was NOT a false pickup. He admitted to handling quantities of fertilizer *just prior* to his trip. The dogs properly alerted to the nitrates.

Either Eunice is lying or the men are lying. Someone put the nation into a lot of turmoil yesterday and they should be punished. Eunice would have had to weave the truth with out and out lies. She knew they had been in Chicago and that they were on their way to Miami. Both of these statements turned out to be true. I'm betting on Eunice, not these 3 "Caribbean med students" that wouldn't even pay their toll.

They should be in jail now, not all over the news. What do you think would happen if I went into a restaurant and sat next to Moslems and threatened to blow up a Mosque. I would be sitting in jail.

I hadn't thought about this. Why weren't the plates transferred properly? Did they want to buy time in case they were ever arrested?

I did wonder why the FBI hadn't checked out the plates before Friday. Eunice called in on Wednesday or Thursday. They should have been straightened out then.

On January 20, 2001 in the newly Inaugurated President Bush's Speech he clearly stated that he wanted American citizens to be "active citizens--not spectators". Since September 11, 2002 American citizens have been asked by all authorities to be on civil defense alert. We have all heightened our awareness, activity and alertness and are absolutely adamant in the protection and defense of our beloved homeland and families.

If you morons could find time from your demented thrill seeking to understand the concept of freedom and liberty and value these rights given to us all by God then you would also be mindful of the sensitivities all Americans are experiencing since September 11, 2001.

You guys were just stupidly arrogant enough to play with fire and you got burned for the foolish activities of that day including running a toll booth and carrying strange license plates on your car.

Another tip, don't try to mess with proud hard working tax paying American citizens who are just doing what the President has asked us all to do and be, and that is "active, aware and alert". Perhaps you should have been the same if you are on board with American citizens. And just one more, don't try using our system of justice against us, we have been warned enough about your tricks and if you don't like it go back to your tyrannical despotic totalitarian dictators and regimes.

3. It was reported the dogs detected explosives in their car. (No explosives).

4. It was reported that they were uncooperative. (nor the authorities say they were cooperative.

5. They had illegal plates on the car. (Turns out to be false).

6. It was a hoax. (Authorities are backing off this as well).

What will be the next "fact" to fall by the wayside? Based on the above, isn't at least worth considering that there is even a tiny possibility that a mistake was made? Or is it just too much fun to attack people?

I will take a wait and see posture as to these three, however, the "facts" are slipping away one by one.

Because our son lives in South Florida, I was glued to Fox News all day yesterday and taking notes.

There is no doubt in my mind that Eunice is absolutely telling the truth about what she heard. Whether or not it was a sick joke, only time will tell.

She is a serious, concerned citizen doing her duty in the face of another terrorist attack and I bless her for it.

I believe the authorities released these men because they didn't have the evidence to hold them. They did, however, continue to search both sides of the highway to see if any evidence had been thrown out of the cars.

They may have let them go, but I suspect they will continue to monitor their activities very closely. We haven't heard the last of this yet.
