Bwahahaha. This is so much bull. Has the New York Post ever broken a story further away than Staten Island? Yeah military sources broke this to them - likely the brother of the reporter, a private in the NY National Guard.

Oh, I think the U.S. can overrun Iraq with less than 75,000 troops. First our Empire will massively bomb Iraq from a safe distance. Then it will attack what's left of Iraq's emaciated and demoralized rag-a-tag army with 75,000 well-armored and armed, high-tech imperial troops.

The danger is not to our troops, but to our "limited Constitutional Republic" (what's left of it).

Slick said the U.S. can overrun Iraq in a week, and KFI's Bill Handel predicted "about 12 seconds." I'd say it's somewhere between there.

Ron Paul had a great piece yesterday on LewRockwell.com stating "35 questions to ask before the U.S. attacks Iraq."

of course. We need to re-establish such rule, that is my point. We can never allow militant anti-US regimes to arise again. Certainly not as long as we have the power to keep it thus.

May I offer the humble observation that this is exactly the sort of thing that led to the collapse of the British Empire. They were overextended, their colonies rose up against them, and chipped away at them until they were forced to withdraw from... practically everywhere. It doesn't matter how "right" the US is. We need to go about all of this in a way that won't bankrupt the country! Wasn't it just a few years ago that we thought our stock market was unstoppable? Wasn't there a degree of, um.. hubris? Unfortunately this time I think it's going to be a lot more than money that's going to be lost.

Are you auditioning for a tv commentator job? Over exaggerating the abilities of Saddam's military should get you the job.

However, the reality is a relatively small force could do the job just as it could have in the Gulf War. The greatest casulties will come from those soldiers who stand in the way of the mobs of Iraqi soldiers trying to surrender. Our guys could be trampled.

Yep, I started laughing at the "specs" too... lol

But hey you have to admire the press for publishing what THEY think is "top secret" subject matter from a "top secret" meeting, that IF any of it was true, would put our service members at more risk than they may already be facing. Bravo!! < /sarcasm>

Wouldnt a nuclear strike make a more profound statement,
it certainly would grab the Islamists attention, and also
tell the chinese a bit more about our resolve unfortunately
we are a bit defanged and feminized, we are all flowers and teddy bears and weathered potoghraphs. Mr Bin Laden was
right he has made an accurate assesment of our whimp status!
WE are in need of a regiem change!

"...the updated Iraqi battle plan - which included a detailed list of targets for massive airstrikes, as well as plans for rapid deployment of as many as 75,000 troops - on Tuesday, at a top-secret meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

"Top-secret", you say?!

IMHO, they are very close to a power change in Iran

While I was watching GWB's speech to the UN, the crawl underneath reported that Iran's Minister of Defense had announced that, in the event of a US attack on Iraq, Iran would remain neutral. They are scared $h!tless.

That picture was taken out near Barstow wasn't it? I think I see a Hill in the background that contains an abandoned Silver mine I used to visit from time to time.

Those days were fun!

We also need to regime-change Syria Big Time. Assad has been fomenting the terrorism of not just Hamas in Lebanon, but Islamic Jihad, and now Al Quaeda refugees.

I hope this secret plan is better than the one the Blue army had during the recent exercise. The Red army kicked a$$.

The military now has in the region 1,500 Marines...

That's about all they really need to to take Baghdad anyway.

And 75% of that force is a provisional service brigade to feed and support them, and includes two guys to put the padlock on Saddam's underground bunker.

You've said a lot of words but have made no logical, or rational argument unfortunately. Your's is an emotional appeal much like Rodney King asking "Can't we all just get along?".

Fact: Iraq is an avowed enemy of the US soon to be in posession of nuclear weapons, and currently in posession of biological weapons. They support and harbor terrorists.

It is extreme hubris to assume murderers will become nice people by talking to them and cajoling them after they have already come to our places of work and murdered our families.

Perhaps we should disarm our police forces? or at least tell them never to use their guns if they are faced with a violent situation.

Your "argument" makes no sense in any context in which we are faced with irredeemable murderers and enemies.

LOL "hubris" you say? No, it wasn't even hubris when the colonial Americans took on King George III.

It was principle, morality and even self-defense.

Which facts about the situation do you not understand?
