A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Making Liberty her Mission at FRee Republic
Libertina
By dansangel
Libertina is a very energetic FReeper who just (lucky for us) happened upon Free Republic. She signed up on 11-18-2000 and the rest, as they say, is history. Perusing her profile page, one finds several links to threads she has posted describing activism and subjects of passionate interest. Her latest rant is a thread she posted on Aug. 28 that can be found here:
"A Simple Word Like Violence"
Libertina has a wonderfully animated style of writing that she used in submitting information about herself to A Few Of FRs Finest. There is no way that I could improve upon what she wrote. So, it is with great pride, I present "Libertina in Her Own Words."
Washington
Puget Sound Chapter Leader Libertina
For 10 years I lived in Asia. I was working for a foreign embassy (de facto) when their government back home fell in a bloodless coup - very intense. I was in Asia when China staged live military games and Clinton sent in US carriers to protect us - (he lied). I was still there while he sold sensitive missile technology, pilfered Republicans FBI files and defiled the White House. Overseas news was CNN. (In other words, I heard nothing)
Returning home a few months before the election I was shocked to find that Republican was a dirty word, Boy Scouts were a hate group, and NAMBLA was operating in full public view. It was an outrage.
FR was found by Providence when I surfed message boards and someone mentioned Free Republic. By that evening I had found my cyber home. A week later I registered and posted my first reply. (Heady days! LOL) Surrounded by brilliant, constitution-reading, politically astute Freepers - it was education time.
A couple of weeks later I boldly posted a rally thread (LOL). Luckily, some people showed up: Big Ern, Vicki and other PS (Puget Sound) Chapter FReepers. (Puget Sound ***rocks!***) In December, I gathered with hundreds of patriots on the Court House steps in Seattle - and found myself on stage speaking.
****************************************
Puget Sound Chapter FReeping the CReep in 2002 when Clinton came to Seattle. We DID make the news. hehehe
Now, more than a year later, the Puget Sound Chapter continues activities including a Shoot, potlucks with Billthedrills homebrew, FReep of the Creep in Seattle, Freep of the MMMs, and our National Gun Purchase Day on July 9th. NGPD is Big Erns brainchild to respond to the UNs Gun Destruction Day. After contacting shops and clubs, the event went national as stores advertised specials during the week and 2nd Amendment lovers took advantage of discounts to buy more guns! (And, we could relay the statistics to the UN - hehehe.)
Of course, there was that challenging COSCO Freep (we were going to be on the Hannity & Colmes Show) where President Bush SAVED us
LOL. The night before our rally, GW secured the release of our service personnel from China. Most Americans stayed home to watch this play out on FOX NEWS, but I stubbornly trudged down to our site with a friend to protest. When the port guard discovered I was on the property, he unceremoniously threw my little Freeper behind right off the premises! Could have been ugly! Thanks GW!
The Puget Sound FR Chapter has been fortunate to have the supportive assistance of KVI radio host Kirby Wilbur announcing our community FReeps. Patriotic BUMP!
Upcoming: In September, my article A Simple Word Like Violence is being published in the WAC Gun News. It is an article about the increased linking of the word violence with 2nd Amendment and how our kids are indoctrinated. (To preview, use the above link). And, I still run pistolwhipvideo.com.
I was honored to work a little on the FRiva Convention with Diotima, Bob J, and other awesome FReepers. IMHO, FR (& friends) is an impressive force against liberalism: gathering conservatives, launching activism projects, creating educational conferences
Thanks Free Republic for providing such amazing refuge for patriots everywhere. ~~Libertina

Libertina. You truly are an inspiration. I was profoundly affected by your following statement:
"Returning home a few months before the election I was shocked to find that Republican was a dirty word, Boy Scouts were a hate group, and NAMBLA was operating in full public view. It was an outrage."
For many of us living in the states the changes were so subtle and most of us felt so isolated in our belief that something was terribly wrong.
Your further comment about how you felt when you felt when finding Free Republic also struck a chord, I'm sure for most of us. Thank God for people like you and thank God for Free Republic.

Oh thank you Dutchess, you are too kind! I know many people feel as I do. I'm just so happy I've found a place to be among good people.
I found being in Taiwan a real eye-opener. I learned about my own counry by being there. They are wonderful people who love freedom, as we do. They even have 3 streets whose names translate to :
Of the People
By the People
For the People
I kid you not! I'd like to share a short story about my wonderful students you see in the picture in my bio.
I hosted/presented a live English entertainment program in some of the Taiean Chinese schools. I had a microphone, taught songs, numbers, alphabet and spoke enough Chinese to make them laugh, you know... I had 5 groups of 100 in the auditorium each time.
Anyway, one Saturday one of the kids got sick and threw up breakfast in the 2nd row. I finally realized that all the first 3 rows on one side of the room had moved back and were sitting on their friends' laps. Then the smell hit me. I went over to investigate and saw a big mess on the floor.
The regular teacher for that class was gone and the male substitute just sat there. I asked him to get a janitor and began opening windows. No janitor came, I couldn't concentrate and finally the Chinese sub told a student to get a mop to clean it up. The student took the mop, dragged it through the mess, and trailed it out into the hall, as pieces of morning egg fell off along the way.
I was so angry I was going to walk out and never return. What was wrong with these people? Couldn't they even take a little responibility? I was so angry I told all the 100 students to go back to class.
As thy were tromping past me, one litle girl (a favorite) said to me in Chinese: Laoshir, weishemma jintian hen xiao shi jien? "Teacher, why today so little time?" I almost cried. Here they were willing to learn, sing, enjoy class with ME, even though the smell of vomit permeated the air. God Bless their little souls! Thinking of this even today, I feel tears coming and am humbled by their caring. Needless to say, I did return. And I love them still today.

Thank You
And that is a really cute picture!

Good afternoon pippin...guess it is good evening to you on the East Coast. Late getting here-cable modem problems...Yuck...Got lots of done today though., ha ha.
To: Libertina
What an interesting life you have led. FReepers are such fascinating people! I love getting to know people through their experiences. :-)
To: lodwick
Lodwick are you really, really back or are you posting from a library?lol...
To: Billie; Mama_Bear
You have the lock on the bluebird, of course (in my early morning good morning post) but I love butterflys and ladybugs so I will take whichever one Lori does not want...
To: daisyscarlett
Hi daisy. Billie says you have been having connection problems. Nice to see you haven't been disconnected completely....or, at least it wasn't for a long time.
While I am thinking about it, do you know if whoever is okay? She's been gone a long time. I am a little worried about her.
BTW, I can be a ladybug or a butterfly, doesn't matter to me. You choose. :-)
To: Libertina; Billie
Thanks for posting that photo of you in NY with the Towers in the background. Gave me the chills but helps me to remember what an awful thing 9-11 was. Maybe next week those of us with photos taken of New York prior to 9-11 can post them. I know JustAmy has one that she posted a couple of weeks ago.
To: daisyscarlett
Good evening, Daisy!
Yes it is evening here.
How are you doing?

Thanks for posting all the photos from the Seattle freeps...They are very neat and you have some very great FReeper friends...

Yes, it is time for another update on whoever, please, please..ru4liberty talks to her and brings us the updates. The last one said she was coming along fine under a doctor's care and hopes to be back soon.....
I sure do miss her and when she and Loddy were both gone at the same time, it was way too lonesome...
.And now JustAmy is gone too. But we have a new buddy, Silly Shelly, and she is picking up some of the slack..
Yep, I had a weird cable modem problem-it would go in and out-I was able to email Billie but it took over an hour...but the mail must go through...LOL
I am scheduled to post tomorrow and I told Billie not to worry. If my cable was out, I would just go to Kinkos and post from there and send the bill to the cable company...lol..Think they would pay it if I pleaded that I had an obligation and hundreds of FReepers were depending on me?ha ha....
To: Mama_Bear
Butterfly or ladybug....hmmm....why don't we take turns. I will be the butterfly this week and the ladybug next week...they are both magnificent insects if there is such a thing.
To: Billie; lowbridge
Yes the Yesterday's News graphic by lowbridge on yesterday's thread, posted this a.m., was a classic. And TG was at the Alamo too...Pictures to prove it...ha ha

And she is doing a fine job of it too. :-)
Daisy, I hope you don't end up having to go to Kinko's to post the thread. You do have hundreds of FReepers depending upon you, but somehow I doubt that would carry much weight with the cable company. LOL.
Nan, here is the angel I found for you. Hope it's one you don't already have.
