My Clintoon Prediction: September 4, 2002
Hillary Clintoon will run for GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK IN 2006.
(Bush re-elected to second term in 2004, Pataki re-elected as NY Governor in 2002)
Hillary Klintoon runs for President in 2008 ( if she is NY Governor having fulfilled her promise to serve her full senate term and with the Klintoon hold on the NY Dem Party firmly in place.)
1) We can already see the klintoons taking over the NYS Dem Party by their actions with McCall & Cuomo.
2) New York has 5 registered Dems for every 2 registered Republican. Pataki would never have beaten Mario Cuomo if the timing were not right. The voters cast their votes for ABC, anybody but Cuomo because his liberal policies prevented NYS from emerging from the recession in the early 90's as most other states recovered. People vote their pocket books.
3) The NYS Republican Party is now weakened with the exit of party leader Bill Powers and his replacement Sandy Treadwell being installed by and for Pataki which will not allow for any emerging strong Republican candidates for Governor in 2008. Also, Pataki has his sights on higher office. Watch for him to want run as a VP candidate.
Wildcards:
1) Will George W. Bush replace Cheney with a dynamic Republican in 2004. He needs a VP who can clearly and early be seen as his successor and a person Americans are comfortable.
2) Will Pataki move on and not run in 2006. He's already going to be a 4 term Governor, people get tired of 4 term Governors....ask Mario Cuomo.
3) If Hillary wins the Governors race in 2006 she will have the springboard she wants. Not many senators lately have been successful in a Presidental campaign. Governors have had much better success.
CONCLUSION: Forget about Hillary running for President in 2004. She is a slick and patient witch and realizes she needs to put everything in place for her one shot at the White House.
senators can run and hide, Governors get blamed. She's in the perfect spot to keep a low profile for a while.
That's one reason. Plus, if she wins the governors seat the press will be in a pro-Hillary frenzy which will give her a big leg up (with fat ankles) on a GOP candidate.
Condi Rice, perhaps? I'd love to see Hillary run against a female black Conservative. Can you say 'smack-down'?
The Nixon formula. But I think losing taints a candidate nowadays. Especially if it's by a landslide.
I think Condi is a longshot.
If Hillary wants to be governor, there's no way she would be denied the chance to run, and I'd bet on her winning, even on the off chance her Republican opponent was Guiliani.
I'm thinking McCall is such a putzy pawn of the Clintons!
I mean really, what did he really get outta this? A sure loss in November, that's it. No way will he beat Pataki. The Clintons are the winners, they get credit for this gold plated, gift wrapped, but totally void of value, gesture to black voters.
Hillary knows Bush will get a second term, she would never run against him. (You are so right, senators don't win the White House, governors do, and that can't be lost on Hillary. Becoming another Governor Clinton does more than build her resume...it gets the country used to having Bubba as First Lady...and remember, she's the one who made it acceptable for a first lady to be co-president.
(Listen...Do you hear it?
My loud cheers and applause at your prediction is deafening! )
Yeah; but in the immediate aftermath of 9-11 she popped into my mind as VP in '04. I've had stranger hunches...like when I predicted Clinton's impeachment...in mid-'92.
But your scenario does give me pause.
We shall see.

it will have nothing to do with "keeping a promise" to the people....it only has to do with political expediency
Of course, but telling voters she kept a high profile promise will mask all her other deceitful lies.
Not to mention that she will raise money for McCall in return for photo-ops of her choosing with Blacks. She'll get close enough to be certain of 95% Black support by stay far enough away to avoid blame for his, McCall's, loss
