A question that was just posed to Donald Rumsfeld from one of the pool reporter's there at the Pentagon was "What proof do you have that Saddam is developing or has nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction?"
Rumsfeld-"That case will be made in the next couple of days and weeks for everyone to see"
Now between this comment that he just said and what Tony Blair said this morning....does it appear to all of you that game is on in the coming weeks for real?

I know the media and talk hosts have SCREENERS constantly reading FR because I have seen too many QUOTES and slick word arranging and nick-names the same day or shortly after they appear ORIGIONALLY here at FFFF-RRRRR. For instance, KOOL-AID drinkers, Knee paders, brier rabbit syndrome, etc, etc.

You should be a reporter - you misquoted me nicely. Try using the complete sentence I wrote (including the text in parenthesis).

I just got your book in the mail today -- thanks! I'm really excited. I love how you designed it (fonts, etc.). Glancing very quickly at it, it looks like good reading. You are a feuilletoniste extraordinaire!

Well, it needs to start soon otherwise we are into the terrible Iraqi winter months... Would that be anything like the Brutal Afghan Winter we kept hearing warnings about? :-)
To: ninenot
No I don't. I also don't see what that has to do with ANYTHING being discussed.

British Defence Secretary, Geoff [pron. Jeff] Hoon, will be giving an address at the University of Louisville, Ky. in a couple of days, I believe, in connection with a prolonged (ie about a week) visit to the USA, and he will be very near President Bush for most or all of that time. Thanks, I wasn't aware of Hoon's visit to DC (I assume) and Kentucky.

One of my father's employees, who is in the army reserve, just got called up to active duty. The last time he was called to active duty was for the Gulf War. I wonder how man other army reserves are being called up.
It seems to me the war will be starting sooner rather than later. Plus the temperatures in the Middle East should start dropping over the next month making for better fighting conditions.

Deterrence works with the sane. Thus, the Soviet Union, China, India, Pakistan (barely), Israel, France (?) and the U.K. can have them.
The insane are not deterred, thus the Axis of Evil: Iraq, Iran and North Korea cannot be safely assumed to be deterred. Saddam will nuke neighbors for fun, Iran for Allah, and Kim for an extra inch-and-a-half of height. These folks are nuts, and cannot be allowed to become nuts with nukes.
Bush Doctrine II: No Nuts with Nukes.

Agreed. Operation Mop Up looks like it is ready to roll.

I stand by my assertion we would never nuke a country (or city, like Baghdad) without similar having been done to us or a very close ally. Anthrax doesn't qualify.
To: Trust but Verify
I think if anthrax was spread in 20 US cities (malls, subways, indoor sports centers) simultaneously over one week-end, a nuclear response would be essential. If there was no nuclear response it would make our nuclear arsenal almost worthless as a deterrent. Any third rate country who could spend a few million dollars making up some weaponized anthrax to be delivered covertly by covert agents could blackmail us. That can't happen. The threat of a nuclear retaliation must be made in advance, and must be shown to be a real threat.
To: Mohammed El-Shahawi
I assume Tony Blair chose his words very carefully today. Why did he say "Iraq poses a very real and unique threat"?His wording caught my eye too. It seems they have something very specific on Iraq.

they must have the evidence already. I wonder what they're waiting for. Not compromising sources until those sources are safe or no longer needed. You can be pretty sure that the real 'meat' of the evidence wont come out until the military objectives are are met so that minimal risk to American lives exist. Sorry, if some aren't convinced by what will be presented, but proving the threat to the UN, the enemy, and those against us in any case is not worth one american soldiers/sailors/airmans life.
