Rationale:

The ground troops have the best advantage on a moonless night. The cruise missiles and guided munitions do not know night from day. There will be @ 3 days of heavy air bombardment to preceed the ground assault which will occur on the moonless night.

It will come on a night with little or no moon in order to maximize the advantage of darkness.
