A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 8/27/02

Posted on 08/27/2002 6:21:42 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush met with Saudi Arabian Ambassador Prince Bandar bin Sultan at the Bush Ranch in Crawford, Texas today to discuss the Mideast, including Iraq. Bin Sultan still asserted the official Saudi opposition to any action against Iraq. Bush also pushed the Ambassador to do more for children- American citizens- who are being held in Saudi Arabia because their father's are living there. Bush specifically raised the case of Amjad Radwam, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen who was not allowed to leave Saudi Arabia with her mother, Monica Stowers, in 1985. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

ACTION ALERT:

I encourage all of you to call Senator Hagel (R, Nebraska) and let him know that his very public, very Daschlesque criticisms of the Bush administration's policy toward Iraq has got to STOP!

I told Hagel's office manager (a very polite young man) that Republicans MUST stop eating their own. If Hagel has concerns about Iraq, he should discuss these concerns with the President (or Rumsfeld or Cheney) PRIVATELY rather than providing Bush-bashing fodder for the liberal media/RATS.

I also told the office manager that my husband and I had just contributed to Senator Frist's campaign to elect/re-elect Senate Republicans and didn't appreciate him (Hagel) working at cross purposes with this campaign (and with 'grassroot' Republicans who are working so hard to retain the House and regain the Senate in November)!

Again, give Senator Hagel a call and request that he respond to you in writing! Telephone Number: 202/224-4224.

Night all!!

Western White House Press Gaggle with Ari Fleischer

Although Ari is quite circumspect, he does make some reference to the meeting today.

A couple of interesting quotes from the Gaggle .....

Q: But Bandar was agreeing that Saddam Hussein is a menace?

MR. FLEISCHER: Saudi Arabia's position has long been, if you have listened to Adel Al-Jubir, for example, that Saddam Hussein is a threat.

[snip]

Q: On the topic of presidential speeches, it now looks like Secretary Powell is going to talk about the Middle East at UNGA. Can you say what date the President is going to speak to the U.N. General Assembly and generally what topics will --

MR. FLEISCHER: No, I will have more to say on that closer to the U.N. General Assembly. That's not until September 12th.

Please read the entire transcript to put these comments in their proper context.

DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN?

Take this little quiz and find out!

1) What is your personal income level? Is it:

- Too much!
- Not enough money, but any more would make me evil.
- Whatever the government lets me keep.
- Money is a tool of the capitalistic overclass which etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
- I have no income. I've rejected money and illegally inhabit a national park.

2) Describe your family:

- I'm married with three kids. Oh, and a live-in transsexual who joins us in our orgies.
- The rules of the commune prohibit disclosing personal information.
- I don't believe in families.
- I don't believe in the word "describe."

3) What is the most politically incorrect thing about Scooby Doo?

- Daphne never does anything but stand around and look pretty.
- Scooby was never referred to as a Canine-American.
- Velma is such a lesbian stereotype.
- Shaggy never shares his marijuana.
- "Scooby Snack" reward system encourages mass consumption.
- Criminals are actually put in prison.

4) There's this weird drunk hanging out in front of your home. Do you:

- Give him two bucks and think highly of yourself.
- Direct him to a government agency that will help him.
- Start a government agency that will help him.
- Respect his personal choice.
- Give Senator Kennedy a ride home.

5) I'm against school vouchers because...

- Bad teachers need jobs too!
- The NEA is against it and a labor union certainly wouldn't do anything in its own interest.
- A monopoly always yields better results than competition.

6) Bill Clinton's Welfare Reform Policy is:

- A document with "GOP" scribbled out & "Bill's" written in with a fat purple magic marker.
- "It's a trap that discourages work & rewards illegitimacy and we're keeping it."
- What would you like it to be?
- What time is it?

7) Bill Clinton's Official Drug Policy is:

- Whatever the Republicans are currently working on.
- A new poster: "Don't Be A Shaggy; Share Your Drugs!"
- White House aides using drugs won't be allowed to work unless they're Democrats.
- "Just say no to inhaling!"
- What would you like it to be?
- What time is it?

8) Why do you admire Hillary Clinton?

- Anyone who can make $100K without knowing cattle futures deserves admiring.
- The only dead people I can conjure up are Paul Lynde and Redd Foxx.
- If only I could lie so convincingly!
- Hey! She puts up with Bill! Give her some credit.
- We need more strong, intelligent women in prison.

9) What would Bill Clinton have to do for you to not vote for him?

- Develop a big ugly eyestalk in the middle of his forehead.
- Appear in a remake of "Bedtime for Bonzo."
- Claim to be "more famous than JFK!"
- Wear a t-shirt showing a bullet-riddled Snoopy.
- Join the Republican party.

10) If Bill and Hillary discovered _________ in Chelsea's room, they would disown her. ONLY ONE ANSWER IS CORRECT.

- Condoms.
- Marijuana.
- Cocaine.
- A videotape with a note: "It was fun! Here's a copy--Rob Lowe"
- An antique German lampshade with a registration tattoo on it.
- "The Way Things Oughta Be" by Rush Limbaugh.

11) Al Gore's dynamic speech pattern makes him an excellent choice for the position of:

- Vice President.
- President.
- Governor.
- Senator.
- Environmental spokesman.
- TalkieToy Robot recorded voice.
- Kindergarten teacher.

12) Bill Clinton strongly believes in:

- Bill Clinton.
- Bill Clinton.
- Bill Clinton.
- Bill Clinton.

13) There is a logical, believable way that missing Whitewater documents showed up in the White House reading room that adjoins Hillary's office after the administration claimed to have handed over all relevant documents:

- They were being used to line Sock's box.
- Time-traveling KGB spies plotting to avenge the fall of communism.
- They had been blank sheets of paper until Bill spilled lemon juice on them.
- That rascally David Copperfield again!
- Hillary had them.

SCORING: None. IF you think this is humor, you're a Republican. IF you had a hard time picking the best answer because they're all so true, you're a Democrat.

Well, I must say your lifestyle speaks on behalf of capitalism. I too have removed the cover, am about to BBQ and am looking forward to gazing at the night sky. Doing so makes me soooooo happy. Enjoy the end of summer.

To show the sole of your foot to another is an insult. Not just raising your foot.

By the way I met Prince Bandar bin Sultan ibn Saud and his father Sultan bin Abdul Aziz.

He is a good and educated man and also a fighter pilot like W. He is educated in the US and is knowledgeable about the west and not a radical islamist.

We have lived here in Huntsville, AL since hubby graduated from Miss. State. We love it here.

Isn't that interesting? Sir SuziQ was talking about Huntsville as a place to go if the job he's going into next year doesn't work out. Are there any lakes in the area on which they're allowing folks to build houses? I want to live on the water SO badly!!

We were there summer before last, stopping on our way back home from FL to MA. We went to the Space Flight Museum and out to the backyard to see the Saturn V Rocket! It looked like a pretty place, and one of our very best friends moved to Birmingham a couple of years ago, so we'd be close to him and our families in MS.

This is an old one, but I got it again tonight.

I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN BATON ROUGE AND HOUMA THE OTHER DAY SOUTH OF NAPOLEONVILLE WHEN A TIRE BLEW OUT. CHECKING MY SPARE, I FOUND THAT IT TOO WAS FLAT. MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO FLAG DOWN A PASSING MOTORIST AND GET A RIDE TO LABADEVILLE.

THE FIRST VEHICLE TO STOP WAS AND OLD MAN IN A VAN. HE YELLED OUT THE WINDOW, "NEED OF LIFT?"

"YES I SURE DO," I REPLIED.

"YOU A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN " ASK THE OLD MAN.

"REPUBLICAN,"I REPLIED. "WELL, YOU CAN JUST GO TO HELL" YELLED THE OLD MAN AS HE SPED OFF.

ANOTHER GUY STOPPED, ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOW, AND ASKED ME THE SAME QUESTION. AGAIN I GAVE THE SAME ANSWER, "REPUBLICAN." THE DRIVER GAVE ME THE FINGER AND DROVE OFF. I THOUGHT IT OVER AND DECIDED THAT MAYBE I SHOULD CHANGE MY STRATEGY, SINCE THIS AREA SEEMED TO BE OVERLY POLITICAL AND THERE APPEARED TO BE FEW REPUBLICANS.

THE NEXT CAR TO STOP WAS A RED CONVERTIBLE DRIVEN BY A BEAUTIFUL BLONDE. SHE SMILED SEDUCTIVELY AND ASKED IF I WAS A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN. "DEMOCRAT", I SHOUTED. "HOP IN !", REPLIED THE BLONDE.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD , I COULDN'T HELP BUT STARE AT THE GORGEOUS WOMAN IN THE SEAT NEXT TO ME, THE WIND BLOWING THROUGH HE HAIR, PERFECT BREAST, AND A SHORT SKIRT THAT CONTINUED TO RIDE HIGHER AND HIGHER UP HER THIGHS.

FINALLY, I YELLED "PLEASE STOP THE CAR." SHE IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND AS SOON AS THE CAR STOPPED, I JUMPED OUT. "WHAT'S THE MATTER?", SHE ASKED. "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE," I REPLIED. "I'VE ONLY BEEN A DEMOCRAT FOR FIVE MINUTES AND ALREADY, I WANT TO SCREW SOMEBODY."

I was working for a large coal comapny as a computer geologist. Mr. Marple was an engineer in underground mining, and had to come to my department for data.

Although he was smitten with me at first, I was a bit stand-offish, as I had had bad experiences before. After multiple attempts to have a date (delayed by company travel requirements, bad weather, and conflicting schedules) we eventually managed to go out to dinner, whereupon he lost his bankcard while trying to get a cash advance, due to putting in the wrong password! He was very embarrassed! Ha!

We went out to eat on MY money, and spent a lot of time talking about our families, which are quite similar.

Anyone who is in the mining industry knows that the geologists and engineers don't get along. However, WE did.

We are still in love, and we still talk mining, even though I now run an antique business and he works for an engineering firm which does work for developers.

"We will not simply look away, hope for the best, and leave the matter for some future administration to resolve"

WOW! What a zinger to the Clinton goons!

But ... I wonder how many of them will get it - I doubt very many.

As always, thanks so much for all the wonderful pictures. I do so appreciate all your efforts. Because I don't have cable yet, I get less pictures of the President than most. However, with the "daily dose" I can get my fill and enjoy our wonderful President.
