Weekend vanity... What kind of forum poster are you? (illustrated examples)
Flame Warriors ^ | N/A | some guy

Posted on 08/24/2002 7:38:15 AM PDT by KneelBeforeZod

mostly funny site... an artist who made drawings of a ton of internet forum posting archetypes....

2 examples to start you off, not necessarily residing on FR!:

Archivist

Archivist saves and squirrels away each and every discussion forum message. Do you remember having a bad day back in 1996 when in one of your messages you may have said a few things that were...well, perhaps a little...hasty? Don't worry, Archivist still has it and will post it to the forum if you begin to get the upper hand in battle. Archivist can be a very effective and fearsome Warrior.

Weenie

Weenie is a very sensitive guy, and it angers him that everyone isn't as sensitive as he. A soi-disant male feminist, he not only cares deeply about women's issues, he's concerned about poverty, people of color, gay rights and sea turtles. Weenie strives to be politically correct at all times and is ever vigilant against anti progressive attitudes. Weenie is always solicitous towards the oppressed classes, but will lash out viciously at retrograde brutes such as Deacon and Troglodyte.

Well hi fred. Finally decided to respond huh? Only took 5 months. Fred, I am sure that somewhere in that little liberal box is the capacity for some level of reason. I wish I could say the same for some of the less fortunates that populate the DUh and others. I really don't understand what drives these people other than their own venom. It certainly doesn't seem to be any real compassion or commitment to the Constitution. On the one hand I feel sorry for them and on the other I think they're dangerous.

Anyway, I have to admit that I think you're kinda fun to have around and I might add that some in the chatroom have taken the same position. There are some FReepers who welcome the chance to challenge liberal ideas (oxymoron?) and some who just enjoy the target practice. I even suggested to Jim that he let us keep you as a pet. He does, after all, let us keep MurryMom around and I don't think she ever had an original idea or a kind word in her life (Just a guess..she may be a very nice lady in real life) and what she gets away with leads me to believe she's related to Jim. I hope Jim realizes that's a joke.

Anyway, nice to see you. I hope you're able stick around, but do try to control some of your more "colorful" terminology. Most of the time we're not really unreasonable people. It's really just a matter of respect. And for what it's worth, we all know there are people on this forum who fit into some of those categories as well.

Shall we start a pool to see how long Fred lasts this time? ;-)

Somewhere between Philsopher and Profundus Maximus.

Philosopher
Philosopher differs from Profundus Maximus in that he actually does know something. While somewhat humorless and slightly aloof, he is also slow to anger. When he does deign to engage in battle he is considerate of other opinions, but his ponderous and lengthy cogitations effectively smother the opposition.

Thanks for reviving this thread.

I wasted several hours 2 years ago at the Archetype Forum Posters site!

It is amusing, and well-done.

For Coffee Klatch the discussion forum is a social gathering - like Mah Jong or the Wednesday morning canasta club. Coffee Klatch prefers a friendly, chatty environment and almost always limits her participation to non-technical forums. Whether inadvertently or by design, Coffee Klatch prepares the battlefield in her favor by making it soggy with pleasant, but vapid messages - her favorite phrase often being, "thanks for sharing". This renders the battlefield rather slow going for many of the swifter and more powerful Warriors, and if war does break out she will shed her benign facade and strike mired Warriors with great ferocity.
