A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

It's A DOG'S World
"I am the proud owner of a 2 yr old Mini Daschund named Sadie. I am an animal lover - dogs mainly; hence my screen name. The name I wanted was taken....Mad Dog....LOL!"
Dog
FReeper since 01-05-00 New Mexico
The photo above is the only picture Dog has online, but what fun it was to put him in other places! Look at him below! He should have been a young man living in the 40's instead of now; the ZOOT SUIT was made for him! (pictured below with FReeper HiJinx in a 40's Fashion Thread posted at the Canteen earlier this year)
Dog was one of the first males to join The Guild; since he's always loved researching and investigating things, it made him an ideal candidate for the Men's Auxiliary group of the Investigative Guild. See his photo below, relaxing in Howlin's family room, where the group met every day.
Currently, Dog's favorite thread is America, the Right Way, and though you will find him there most every day, he still makes time to browse FR for other threads offering the latest news, or humor (people need to laugh more nowadays, he says).
Dog ISN'T an Elvis fan, IS a Bush fan (oops! he didn't want me to mention that. LOL....too late! It's okay though, because this is a Bush friendly thread), and he told me that Elian was the reason he came out of lurker mode and became an active FReeper.
I guess we can say, "Thank you, Elian and God Bless you." And to you, Doggie, I say for all of us......
You're one of FR's Finest!

A blonde and a brunette were watching the 6 o'clock news.
The news was about a man about ready to jump off a bridge. The brunette turns to the blonde and says, "I bet you $50 the man is going to jump."
"Okay, you're on." the blonde replies
Sure enough, the man jumps, and the blonde gives the brunette the $50.
The brunette says, "No, I can't take your money. I watched the 5 o'clock news and saw the man jump then."
"No, you have to take it," says the blonde. "I watched the 5 o'clock news too, but I didn't think he would do it again."

A Highway Patrolman waited outside a popular bar, hoping for a bust. At closing time everyone come out and he spotted his potential quarry. The man was so obviously inebriated that he could barely walk.
He stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, looking for his car. After trying his keys on five other cars, he finally found his own vehicle. He sat in the car a good ten minutes, as the other patrons left. He turned his lights on, then off, wipers on, then off. He started to pull forward into the grass, then stopped. Finally, when he was the last car, he pulled out onto the road and started to drive away.
The patrolman, waiting for this, turned on his lights and pulled the man over. He administered the breathalyzer test, and to his great surprise, the man blew a 0.00. The patrolman was dumbfounded. "This equipment must be broken!" he exclaimed.
"No, it isn't," giggled the driver. "I'm the designated decoy!"

A couple had been married for 25 years and were celebrating their 60th birthdays, which fell on the same day.
During the celebration, a fairy appeared and said that because they had been such a loving couple for 25 years, she would give them one wish each.
The wife wanted to travel around the world. The fairy waved her hand, and Boom! She had the tickets in her hand.
Next, it was the husband's turn.
He paused for a moment, then said shyly, "Well, I'd like to have a woman 30 years younger than I."
The fairy picked up her wand, and Boom! He was ninety.

A cowboy walks into a bar in Texas, orders three mugs of Bud and sits in the back room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn. When he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.
The bartender approaches and tells him, "You know, a mug goes flat after I draw it, it would taste better if you bought one at a time." The cowboy replies, "Well, you see, I have two brothers. One is in Australia, the other is in Dublin, and I'm here in Texas. When we all left home, we promised that we'd drink this way to remember the days we drank together. So I drink one for each o'my brothers and one for myself." The bartender admits that this is a nice custom, and leaves it there.
The cowboy becomes a regular in the bar, and always drinks the same way. He orders three mugs and drinks them in turn. One day, he comes in and orders two mugs. All the regulars take notice and fall silent. When he comes back to the bar for the second round, the bartender says, "I don't want to intrude on your grief, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss."
The cowboy looks quite puzzled for a moment, then a light dawns and he laughs. "Oh, no, everybody's just fine," he explains, "It's just that my wife had us join that Baptist Church and I had to quit drinking. ----Hasn't affected my brothers though."

It was a cold, dark, stormy night. Suddenly the power went out... Their passion for each other finally got the better of them. It was at that very moment they knew they had to be together. They knew it was wrong, but it felt so RIGHT!
Then, the power came back on...
Caught JustAmy away from the computer again. Heh Heh
