A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

New York, New York!
Like the rest of you, I'm "Getting to Know You", more of you, better every day. Today we shine the on firebrand, a native of East Orange, N.J., who has lived in Manhattan since her college years. She first became political in 1992 because of neighborhood events, and in '94, switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party. Firebrand is presently a local GOP leader and is also active in GOP clubs around town.
firebrand
FReeper since 02-27-00
Firebrand has a high profile job as an editor of conservative material and prefers not to have her photograph published. Since she joined FR in February of 2000, she has become more than just a passive FReeper, and her list of accomplishments and activities include the following:
- Chapter Executive of the Tri-State Chapter
- (Prior to becoming the Chapter Executive, she was the New York City Group Leader);
- Editor of the Clinton Legacy Cookbook;
- Organizer of the Bush rallies in Times Square and practically every other rally and protest FR has held in New York City.
A few words about firebrand shared with me by another FReeper:
"She organized the Freeps in Times Square to call on Al Gore and LIEberman to give it up in late November 2000 and December 2000. She was at the UN Freep, I think, the Mexican Embassy, the one where the globalists marched, we sang patriotic songs and the Cops loved us, extended our permits for unlimited time! Rudy in Newburgh, too, she was there when Rudy shook all our hands and posed for pictures with us, Kathryn Prudhomme in front of Hillary's campaign headquarters in NYC...." ~~ Race Bannon
I always enjoy seeing some of the threads linked on a FReeper's Profile Page. Firebrand has a variety of topics on hers, with such names as: Non-War On Terror; Best Memories of Favorite FR Posters No Longer Posting; Campaign Finance Revision Act; Combatting Christianity; Disrupting on FR; Democrats Mess With Texas But Run Risk of Going Too Far; Global Warming: Scientists Unravel Whodunnit; FreeRepublic.com Makes Page Six of NY Post; just to name a few.
Thanks, Firebrand! You're One of FR's Finest!

Yes! Yes! Thanks for posting the President's remarks,
along with the white hat photo! :)
LOL! Well, I might have put those words in his mouth, but he
was thinkin' it !
Thanks!

I've been pretty good. I simply stay too busy to hang out much. I thought I was retired, but that was merely a formality. I'm still pastoring a church. There is such a shortage of pastors now they can't afford to let us retire. Oh well, I wouldn't want to sit down and do nothing anyway. I trust you are well?

Congratulations on staying busy, Nan !!
I have much more going on since I retired in '86 than when I worked 70 hours a week. :o)
I just finished building a new deck, now I have to build a ramp for the side without stairs and reset the spa. :o)
Hohoho, off to work we go... :o)

LOL. Where is all that leisure we were promised in our old age? There doesn't seem to be a stopping place. I know about those building projects too. We've been doing some remodeling and I have to paint the inside of the house. Of course, it's a very large house.

All work and no play makes old curmudgeon's grumpy... :o)

I just love these computer cartoons you seem to come up with every day. Thank you - more truth than fiction in some of them...lol.
To: blackie
Well. That explains it. I wondered why hubby and I were so grumpy all the time. LOL.

Beautiful. Reminds me of the time hubby and his band were playing a gig somewhere is upstate N.Y. Snow was so high he couldn't see the road signs. Alternator went out on his van and he had to pull quickly into a rest area. They tried to sleep in the van with sleeping bags, but it was so cold they were about to freeze to death. They finally had to go into the rest room and lean against the wall all night to keep from freezing. Ever after that, whenever one of the boys would hear someone mention cold, they would say, "Cold?! Let me tell you about cold." LOL.

LOL! My husband used to have a motorcycle. I used to like riding - but never by myself - I havn't the foggiest idea how to ride one by myself!
Actually, one of the cutest doll graphics that Louie gave me before everybody started posting dolls was a biker babe. I just don't post them anymore. :)
